How to download and work on my Adobe files locally? Do I simply download them?

I'm a designer using Adobe CC (indesign, photoshop etc). I was introduced to Dropbox by a client and found it really useful but I now have an issue. I've just had a new hard disk on my MacBook Pro and so before it went away I backed up all my work online. Great! Now I want to work on some folders/files - how do I go about working on these without downloading all my assets?

I've tried to download files but indesign will not open them (maybe an issue with linked files?)

Its worked so seamlessly in the past am I missing something

    Hi Megan

Yes I used your website to upload files...

Yes I have the DB app on my MacBook Pro

I also have DB icon top right, it says its 'Indexing' files...

So if I download relevant folder/file will it sync with online version as I work on it? Cheers R

Hey RaphN, how long has the app been indexing content?

When using the app, you should have a local Dropbox folder with all of your content there.

This folder is essentially a "mirror" of all the files you have on your account online, and any changes you make will sync to both.

Hey RaphN, welcome to our Community!

From what I understand, it sounds like you used our website to upload and backup your content, right? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Do you have our desktop app installed on your MacBook?

As for your request, you can either choose individual files to download from your account online, or you can download and install our desktop app if you're not using it already.

That way you can have all of your files visible locally on the device, and choose which one you need to work with.

If you're worried about the content taking up hard drive space you can also take a look at our selective sync settings, or how to make content online-only.

I'll be waiting for your updates!
