I migrated my files to a new Mac, but they all show as 0 bytes. How can I delete them?

I always worked on a pc. Now I finally bought a Mac desktop. I tried to migrate files (obviously in a wrong way) and it looked perfect but they all are 0 bytes. But they all have the correct name. If I delete one, it's disappeared from Dropbox.  My question: (how) can I delete all the corrupted files frommy Mac without removing them from Dropbox?

Thank you for your answer! Ino

Hi Ino4! Thanks for your post here.

To have a clearer image of what may have happened, can you clarify how exactly you migrated those files over to your new Mac computer?

I’d also like a screenshot of how they appear when you open your local Dropbox folder there.

Let me know when you’re ready, and I’ll have a closer look.

Nancy, I thought about this: copy all maps and files to an extern hard disk, then delete all corrupted files in Dropbox and re-upload everything.  Is that an idea?

Hi Nancy, I dragged & Dropped the maps & files to my Mac the 'windows way'. I don't know how to insert a screenshot but you just see what you see in the good working Dropbox in the pc. I have to delete everything in the Mac without deleting what is in the pc. There must be a trick..  thanks! Ino

Hey Ino4, let me also jump in here!

You can uninstall the app on your Mac, and then delete the local content. If you do this while the app is uninstalled, your files should be safe.

Once that's done, you can re-install the app and allow for all the content to take the time and sync locally to the device.

If you need more info, let me know I'd be happy to help!

Thank you Megan, I'll try and will let you know. Anyhow, if things go wrong deleted files will be save with you foor 30 days, aren't they?
