I am also having the exact same issue. Dropbox support prematurely closed my case on this, which wasn't helpful.
I am considering quitting my Dropbox subscription because I rely on the document scan feature heavily. I hope Dropbox can resolve this quickly. Right now I am using a Samsung tablet from 2017 to do scans and this still works but my LG velvet phone only takes very pixelated scans. I have cleared caches, reinstalled Dropbox, etc. Nothing has helped.

Wow!! It's 11 months later and I still have the same issue.
Absolutely unusable.
I scanned through all related forum messages I could find and every message from the dropbox staff has been the same!
Asking for reinstalls (none of them seem to solve the issue) or emptying caches (doesn't work either). How can this take so long to solve?
Very disappointed. I need the scan feature to work properly! Have been a pro client for probably 10 years but this is more than disappointing!

Would you mind clarifying the OS you're currently using, along with the Dropbox version you have installed there?
I just want to make sure you're using our latest version.
