How does Dropbox syncing work? Do I have to move my files inside the local Dropbox folder?

Hello everyone I've been using google drive for a while but I'm not very satisfied anymore (mostly because Im in need to sync bigger and bigger files and it struggles a lot). So I'm thinking about switching to dropbox. I have never used, but heard great things. the only thing Im concern about is that I heard that you cant just sync any folder you want on your computer, you need to put the files you want in a specific dropbox folder. So more than a sync, its just like manually putting the file you want to sync in a specific folder? But I'm constanly adding new files everyday, downloading contract, invoice, videos, premiere files, font etc. That I need t oshare with lots of different people, it would be impossible to manually put everything everyday inside the folder. How do you guys use it? Am I misunderstanding anything?

Or, should I just move my existing work folder directly into the dropbox folder and work from there? It's a 1to folder, can I just easily sync it if I put it in the dropbox folder?

Thanks a lot!

That's correct. Dropbox will only sync the files and folders located in the Dropbox folder. Anything you want to sync to your account needs to be placed in this folder.

Yes. You can either just move your existing work folder into Dropbox and allow it to sync, or move the content of your work folder into the Dropbox folder, and then use the Dropbox folder as your new work folder.

If you move your work folder into the Dropbox folder it will sync, just know that it will take a while to sync 1 TB of data initially.
