On my MacBook Pro I have OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan running. Since today the dropbox app does not work any more. I have already reinstalled the dropbox app, deleted the .dropbox folder and loaded system...

Hi there,
just installed the new
Beta Build 53.3.65
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Desktop-client-builds/Beta-Build-53-3-65/m-p/282044#M4928

It works now for me again.

Welcome to the party..........
Here is a partial list of what HASN'T worked for me:
Restart.
Shutdown Restart.
Dragging my icon to the task bar from applications.
Reading an email advising me to shut off antivirus (which none of are running) and turn off the firewall (which none of us have on).
Regular Reinstallation
Advanced installation using terminal commands.
Advanced installation manually deleting information in /Library/ and ~/.dropbox
Unlinking my computer
Trying to reinstall the old version of the app through time machine (that at least worked briefly)
Using an old version and deleting the update app (which worked the longest of any of them, but alas, still doesn't stay working)
Getting grumpy on forums and with support staff.
I AM NOT ALONE HERE, PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!

I am hearing that there is a known issue, but, trying to get some more info on it - that does mean though they are aware of it and working on it.
I've asked if we can get an official thread up with info on. As its the weekend (and Super Users dont work for Dropbox) that may take some time.
However, what MAY work is to temporarily install the beta build: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Desktop-client-builds/Beta-Build-53-3-64/m-p/281042#M4908. By this point they are usually quite stable, and, as it isnt working anyway it may be better than nothing!

I have had this problem on OS 10.9.5, but I wanted to give it a try, so I installed the beta version (after removing the app and all its related files), and it still crashes with the same errors as it did after the advanced reinstall of the regular version:
the first attempt to run produces:
Crashed Thread: 3 Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-priority
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010VM Regions Near 0x10:
-->every subsequent attempt produces:
Crashed Thread: 0 CrBrowserMain Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000I see however that the beta version is from June 18th, so as recent as the time when the standard version of the app started crashing. I will try with an older backup, start dropbox while off the network, and see whether that at least allows the app to start without crashing.

I downloaded and installed an older version of Dropbox (49.4.68). It started up without problems, and kept working for a couple of minutes, i.e. until the app updated itself to the latest version. This is the best performance so far in 5 days, because the app finally started, I could log into my account, and start the syncing. Too bad that there is no way to prevent it from updating itself during syncing. As soon as the app updated itself to 52.4.58, it crashed.
As far as I am concerned, the latest version (52.4.58) has a bug.
