Dropbox Integration with Zoom deprecated.
I discovered after the fact that Dropbox has decided to end its integration with Zoom. Apparently this ended on 5th February 2024. My last Zoom meeting 8 February 2024 did not upload to Dropbox automatically as usual which led me to investigate with both Zoom and Dropbox. I was just informed of the decision on Dropbox Chat. Apparently, I was supposed to have received an email but I can't find one and don't delete such things.
I was advised to report the issue/complaint here. The solution offered was download and Re-upload to Dropbox which I know will work (because I used to do that years ago) but when I have multiple Zoom Sessions in one Day and there isn't time between meetings to do this this is a lot of extra work for something that prior to this change was automatic. I wonder how many others are affected by this and are just as mystified as I am? I may have to consider other options to Dropbox though need to investigate these. Thanks.
Update 15th February 2024: Given the growing interest in this post and issues it is causing I have now put forward it's reinstatement here: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-ideas/Please-reinstate-integration-with-Zoom/idi-p/751519#M82875

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your feedback regarding this.
The Zoom integration within Dropbox is active and working normally for all users.
If you’re having any issues accessing your Zoom recordings or the feature, let us know and we’re happy to help.
Thank you,
Sam

Oh no!
This is pants! I use this all the time as well and also didnt get an email. - Philip WadeCollaborator | Level 9
Thanks for sharing this Mark. I checked my emails and there is no such email. I find the decision bizarre to say the least. I am beginning to investigate alternatives but perhaps if there's plenty more here Dropbox might be persuaded to re-consider.

There was definitely no email. It's a strange decision, and the rollout is even worse.
There are probably ways to automate it with Zapier or Make or something like that, but it would be a frustrating extra step.

Yup, the integration was deprecated. You could use APIs to write a java script to extract the recording files and upload. If you are not a developer there is a Zoom marketplace app, Salepager that can automate exporting and backing up the Zoom recordings for you.

I am not familiar with those but thank you for the suggestion bblu2095.

That is pretty crappy....I received no email about this change and we were going crazy trying to figure this out over the last week. Not happy use this feature many times a week.

I can imagine BHappy it had me puzzled and the support at Zoom clearly didn't know about it (they were surprised when I informed them of what I had found) after I spoke to support at Dropbox and even the person I was chatting with had to go away and check and then came back with the most surprising and mystifying answer. I have posted this on LinkedIn in an attempt to see if others are affected and tagged Zoom and Dropbox though I have no idea if it will have any effect. Wishing you well in finding a solution for your stuff.

Hi! Since feb 8 my records from Zoom have stopped loading in dropbox
I checked all settings, but nothing helpsAre there any problems currently synchronizing zoom and dropbox? who knows?
- JayDropbox Staff
Hi Chriskynka, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you clarify how you were linking Zoom and Dropbox together?
Was this via the Zoom app itself, saving recording in the Dropbox folder, or another method?
This will help me to assist further!

I linked the zoom app to dropbox and allowed to upload recordings to the cloud in ZOOM

Dropbox has apparently ended the Zoom integration as of Feb 5th.

Rich thanks for sharing my thread with Chriskynka. The information shared above was direct from Dropbox support after they went away and checked. It wasn't something the agent knew immediately. Zoom Agents appeared equally unaware of this until I informed them!

A bit further information on this. This is a key extract from the Chat with Dropbox that revealed what had transpired. It should be stated that the Support Agent wasn't immediately aware of this and had to pause for a couple of minutes or so and was given this response to share with me:
"After careful consideration and evaluation, the Zoom integration within Dropbox is being deprecated. This means that the Zoom integration will no longer be available to our customers, effective 05/02/2024.
We understand that this integration has been valuable to many of our users, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, we believe that focusing our efforts on other features and integrations will allow us to provide an even better experience for our users.
We're always looking for ways to improve Dropbox. We regularly release new versions of our products with better performance, additional features, and security enhancements."
How this represents an improvement is beyond me. It's a bit like saying we want you to use Dropbox to store your important documents but we're actually going to make it harder and more time consuming for you to do so!
Bizarre. - Philip WadeCollaborator | Level 9
Screenshots from the Zoom Website and from my Dropbox Account. Zoom Website shows Dropbox still as a featured Integration. My Dropbox Account shows Zoom is connected but it isn't working.

Here is a 404 for the Zoom page in the Dropbox Apps Marketplace (i.e., it doesn't exist anymore):

This just happened to me too! There wasn't any heads up and is a key part of our organization's current workflow.
@Zoom – what's going on here?
- Philip WadeCollaborator | Level 9
marosner it's a decision taken by Dropbox not Zoom. They were unaware of it and it's still showing on their Website as a featured integration.
- yw40New member | Level 2
i agree this is utterly outrageous
no reason for the stopping, and worse no advance notice
wasted hours trying to fix the problem untill dropbox (chat) admitted to the secret
- Philip WadeCollaborator | Level 9
I can imagine yw40 I spent quite some time on it myself and it was Zoom I approached first and it is clear now the support agent did not know. Dropbox chat agent did not know either and had to take a few minutes out to come back with the mystifying answer!
