This was the last communication I received from Dropbox support...they're basically passing the blame to Microsoft and saying they don't know how to fix it. The interesting part is that it was working (and continues to do so) flawlessly on my older Pixel phone until I switched to my new(er) Pixel phone.

Unfortunately, the issue you're experiencing with accessing Excel files via the mobile app is related to Microsoft’s integration.
Microsoft provides an in-app Dropbox storage location within the Office app, and some users are encountering issues with its functionality.
We have informed Microsoft about this matter.
