Neuer PC; lokale Datensicherung vorhanden; trotzdem kpl. Download durch Dropbox!?

Hallo! Wenn ich meinen Rechner mal komplett neu aufsetzen will oder muss, mache ich (zusätzlich zur automatischen Sicherung auf Dropbox) auch eine lokales Backup, das ich dann auf den "neuen" Rechn...

    Hier die Auskunft eines Gurus:

    yeah, this can be a bit risky tho….
    when you install/link the client you can point it at the existing Dropbox folder
    the client will then reindex all the content in that folder
    however….
    if anything differs, then it will upload it as preceived _new_ content, as a Conflicted Copy
    I would make sure that backup was minutes old if I was gonna link Dropbox to it.

    I wouldn’t try this with a folder that was days old
    (an API or Anti-virus could have modified the files in a very minor way, Dropbox detect the _modified date_ as different and then duplication as (Conflicted Copy)s )

    Dropbox will still reindex, to build the local database. this could take a while dependent on number of files and shared folder…. but Dropbox does not actually downloading the data, just checking it

vielen Dank für Ihren Beitrag.

Grundsätzlich gibt es hierfür mehrere Möglichkeiten, ich denke aber, dass die folgende wohl am besten ist:

1.) Sie laden die App auf dem neuen bzw. neu formatierten PC herunter. Dadurch wird ein neuer Ordner erstellt.

2.) Dann pausieren Sie bitte die Synchronisation der Dropbox Desktop Applikation.

3.) Nun verschieben Sie alle Inhalte der "alten" Dropbox in den neuen Ordner und löschen den alten Ordner auf dem E Laufwerk.

4.) Jetzt verschieben Sie den neuen Ordner auf das E Laufwerk. Das machen Sie über die Einstellungen (hier finden Sie die Anleitung dazu) und starten die Synchronisation wieder.

Die Applikation gleicht dann die Inhalte auf der Webseite mit den Inhalten im neuen Dropbox Ordner. Das dauert vielleicht ein wenig, aber die App synchronisiert in keinem Fall alle Dateien neu.
