You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
It would be super handy to edit txt files in the preview window that opens when you click a document in your dropbox in the browser. So I can quickly store some text without having the pain of downloading - editing-uploading
Just an idea :)

I used to be able to edit text files in the browser, but no longer. I'm piling on -- please provide this function! Without it, Dropbox is cumbersome and inefficient.

This would be a really handy feature that would greatly increase the experience of the product. As someone who always works on the go and goes in between many different offices and computers in my work I don't always have the option to install programs or download files, which makes editing of simple .txt files a hassle, while .doc or .docx files are easily avilable and easy to use.
The android app can do this easily, so it should be easy to implement in the web version as well! :)

If you need one more vote to add this SIMPLE FEATURE which is already implemented in android... I'm in: +1
Basic, fundamental, ...
But again... why do you developp more the Dropbox apps than the browser ?

is essential... please do it

Yes, we really need this feature, esp. since it's already available in the app!

Echoing what EVERYBODY before me has been asking - PLEASE add this! Just a simple 'Edit' button that will bring up raw Markdown/HTML/JSON/txt (any plaintext) file, very basic editing features, and 'Save' (or autosave). Right now, it's a painful workflow of having to download, edit, upload.

Please do this! Would eliminate need for a competition like google docs / drive

Just started using Dropbox--thinking about deploying for a team of 20.
First thing I did was create a simple .TXT to store my thoughts on folder organization and get others' input.
Can't believe that there is no way to edit the .TXT from the browser. Pretty close to a dealbreaker, since at least 20% of our documents are expected to be .TXT.
Please add this feature!
