You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
I use emoji’s to help me find things quicker. I would like to add an emoji from the apple keyboard to the file folder name but when I click on rename and add the emoji it says “invalid folder name...the folder name contains invalid characters”. Here is an example I wish to change “Vehicles and DOT” folder to say “🚗Vehicle and DOT”

Some emojis are supported, and this is the worst. I never know which one will sync and which ones won't. As all the popular file systems support file names with emoji, it sounds more than reasonable that a file syncing app should.
I would appreciate it very much.

My whole filesystem is based upon emoji-named files to see in a gasp. The more time passes the more people are going to use emojis (younger more emoji-usedto-people). Please add this.

Yes. This is really vital for me, as I'm beginning to use emojis to organise my files.

Generic filename support should be a requirement to avoid edge cases. I just got a notification about a file that won't sync today because of this. Unfortunately for me if that file is missing from my other machines my whole system will not work. For my own files it is a hassle but I can rename them. But for files that other people provide me (via git usually) I don't have any control over their names.

Please allow this.

Please support this!
I'm just tried to use Dropbox to sync my Obsidian files and ran into a problem syncing an important file with an emoji in the filename. It's very standard to fully support emojis in 2021.

This feature would make a massive difference! Is there a potential workaround? Many applications use dropbox to host files that get synced across devices, and having emojis in folder and file names is a really big part of my and many others' workflows.

This can't happen soon enough. I'll have to switch to a different service provider if unicode support isn't implemented soon.

I would love to see this happen. iCloud supports all emojis in folder and file names. It offers a lot more customizability and I like the visual element of it!
