Feature Request: iOS batch photo capture with auto-upload
Hi Dropbox Team,
I’d love to see a feature added to the Dropbox iOS app that allows users to take multiple photos in rapid succession (batch mode) and have them automatically uploaded to a selected folder without needing to manually confirm each upload.
This feature would be incredibly useful for:
- Field workers and inspectors who need to document multiple images quickly.
- Event photographers capturing fast moments that need instant cloud backup.
- Document scanning and archiving where multiple images need to be stored in Dropbox immediately.
Currently, the Dropbox iOS app requires users to take and upload one photo at a time, which slows down workflows. A batch capture mode with real-time auto-upload would make Dropbox an even better tool for professionals.
Please consider adding this feature in a future update! Thanks for your time.
Best,

Dropbox Staff
Hi there propertyinsuranceexperts - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this with us.
Just to clarify, are you familiar with the camera uploads feature?
Would it work for what you had in mind or maybe you'd like to see something different implemented in the Dropbox mobile app?
Let us know more and we'll take it from there.

Yes, we are heavy users of the camera uploads feature (i.e., backing up your ENTIRE iPhone photo library to Dropbox automatically).
The key to having a bulk photo capture mode within a specified folder—allowing us to snap and upload multiple photos in the background during an ongoing inspection—is that it would save us the time of having our staff manually sort through thousands of photos (many without much context) into the proper client subfolder several weeks later. In other words, with a bulk photo snap feature, our team of 20-30 inspectors could capture several photos at once, live in the field, and have them go directly into the correct subfolder for the client property they are currently inspecting. This would save us hours of time by ensuring the photos are organized correctly from the very start.
I'm sure our inspectors have several personal photos on their camera roll, as well, all of which they have to sort through when locating the right inspection photos later on. An inspector might have to search for and correctly identify inspection photos from a mix of thousands of images (including personal ones) taken that month, just to select and move them into the right client subfolder later on.
All in all, having a feature to snap hundreds of photos directly into the right folder from the outset would save us hours and hours of manual organization back at the office. Your document scan mobile feature does allow for multiple document scans in bulk. I don’t see why this couldn’t be an available feature for snapping JPEGs in bulk into the right folder, as well.
Please keep me posted if your development team plans to implement such a feature in the future. This would be a FANTASTIC addition!
Thanks!
