Force iOS Dropbox app to upload camera pictures in the background
You should find a way to force the iOS Dropbox app to upload camera pictures in the background regardless of whether or not the app is actually active. As it stands now, this function is hardly of any use whatsoever because in order for it to work, not only does the app have to be running (like in the background), but it also must be active! If I ever have to access the app, it’s generally only for less than a minute. But if I have photos on the phone that haven’t been uploaded to Dropbox, I have to sit there and wait with the app active until they all upload. If I further in the middle of the upload and switch to another app as the active one, then the remaining photos just won’t upload.

Hey dpbrick, thanks for posting on our Community today!
Out of curiosity, have you already checked out this Help Center article?
In general, your camera uploads should be working in the background, but there are some factors that may affect that.
Let me know what you find.
