Hi,
My company uses Dropbox (free and company versions) to share files with external people of the company. We would like to know if it's possible to hide the name and the email address of the members of the folder to the other members. And if it's not possible yet, I think it would be a good idea to improve Dropbox, don't you think?

My company just discovered this today as well. I understand Dropbox's point of view about "Shared" being a collaborative thing and it does make sense that they set it up the way they did originally. However, it seems we all agree that for professional usage, especially when adding "View Only" members, we should have the option of hiding E-Mail Addresses (and maybe even Last Names). Notice that in this forum we are collaborating but none of us can see each other's e-mail address or last name! Seems like on at least one level this makes sense to Dropbox.

No, you can't do it.

Any update on this?

I just realised that this feature is NOT available. And I think its embarassing to Dropbox that its not available. I have just signed up to Dropbox and paid for a Business account. I am now reviewing the competition to find a superior offering. Sorry Dropbox, you have been dropped. let me know when you give the customers what they are asking for, and perhaps I will rejoin. Not happy, Dropbox.

Hi superuser..
as you commented..
A "shared folder" and a "shared link" are two entirely separate things - this thread is about "shared folders" not hiding a members details..
can we implement "share link to a folder".. same concept as shared link (which is only to file), but with access to all link to files under that folder..

surely this feature should exist otherwise I am about to move on - if I share a folder with clients, they should not be able to see each other's emails and names.

No. It's not possible to hide the members from one another. Shared folders are meant for collaboration. As such, information about whom you're collaborating with is shown to all members.
Share links do not reveal information about the other people using them, though they're meant for viewing and/or downloading only. People with the link cannot modify your files or upload content to the folder.

Its not baffling, its the way Dropbox want it to work - everyone gets to see who they are collaborating with.
