Admin Console
7 TopicsMass Deletion - Alert page, File Activity log, and admin Content view need more information
Trying to undo a mistaken Team Folder move outside of Dropbox, in a Team account. - There is an alert athttps://www.dropbox.com/team/admin/security/alerts/which lists the affected folders, their size, and number of files, and the date of deletion. However, there's no way to see the containing folder path (mouseover the folder for a tooltip would be nice), and clicking the folder name/icon should go to the containing folder underhttps://www.dropbox.com/team/admin/team_folders/home/in order to restore the file. Instead the only action option on this page is "Check team activity to see all files". The blue Restore button just goes to the same view, instead of providing the ability to undo the entire action. - The Activity view athttps://www.dropbox.com/team/admin/activitydoes provide path tooltips for some activities, but for the Activity type "Removed user/group from shared file/folder" or "Deleted shared folder from Dropbox", does not provide the containing path. An export of the log also does not. This makes locating the folders to restore more difficult. - The admin Content pagehttps://www.dropbox.com/team/admin/content/homeis effectively a file browser, but quite limited even compared to the default Dropbox file view. Especially, there is no Date Modified, and viewing the Deleted Files, there's no Date Deleted which would be very helpful.398Views0likes1CommentAdmin Setting for Allowing Cut/Paste from Team Folder to Non-Team Folder
Would love if Dropbox created an Admin-level setting which would allow Admins and/or Users to simply move a file from a Team/Shared Folder to a non-Team/Shared Folder by cutting and pasting. I used to be able to do this, but it seems now with the recent update I can only copy the file from a Team/Shared Folder to a non-Team/Shared Folder, and then delete it from theTeam/Shared Folder. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal or time consuming; however, when you do it frequently - that extra copy/paste then delete step actually adds up.372Views0likes1CommentIssues with Folders in Admin Console Content - not visible and not able to move
I am an admin with all rights and am not able to see folders (that I created myself) in the admin console under content. Does anyone know why this is happening? I am also trying to move personal folders to team folders and it says that I can't bc someone else is the owner, but I AM the owner of the folders I am trying to move.666Views0likes3Commentsonly allow team admins to move or delete certain folders or subfolders
HI, I am an admin on dropbox for business for our company. We have a folder and subfolder structure which works well for our staff and we need people to be able to upload/download/edit files within the system. However, we have had numerous problems with staff inadvertently moving folders or deleing folders causing massive problems for our company. Can this be addressed? It would greatly improve efficiency for our team. We get notified if theres a mass deletion but then we are spending time solving the problem rather than it being preventable in the first place.... Even if admins could be notified before staff are allowed to dot his, it would be a start...374Views0likes1CommentCannot delete or move top level folder as admin (folder used to belong to deleted user)
I have some folders in the admin area that I want to remove or delete - but even though I am logged in as admin, there is no menu function available. I 'shared' the folders with me but it also did not help. There is simpy no context menu to operate on the folders (just the 'manage' option for sharing). I am the admin in a team. I saw a lot of notes here that looked similar but was not able to use any of the other recommendations successfully. Anyone any idea?1.2KViews0likes6CommentsNeed All The Modified Files and Folders list for a particular date
I want to obtain a list of all files and folders modified in Dropbox on a specific date for example 08/01/2023. Can you please provide the way in order to get this information as I can only see last modified date on a folder/file but not version history of the file/folder being modified and this requirement is crucial for our business.1.2KViews0likes1CommentHelp! Dropbox has moved critical team folders inside my personal space
I restarted a mac today and as Dropbox was reopening, got a cryptic message from Dropbox saying 'Do you want to move two files/folders into the Team space?'. Not knowing what It was referring to, I clicked 'no'. -> It's now moved two critical top-level team company folders into my personal space • I tried to simply drag them back, but the root level is locked on OSX finder. • I considered using Terminal to move the folders back, but thought hacking Dropbox in any way (esp at root level) could cause unknown behaviour/data loss, and this is huge amounts of company data which isn't backed up another way (something we're working on). For now, I've quit Dropbox on this machine to stop it syncing. On other machines and on web the company folders remain in the correct place, for now. Q. How to undo whatever it did, on this mac, so I can resume using Dropbox without it doing this operation? TIA - Jon1.3KViews2likes1Comment
