Hi everyone, who remembers the chaos that happened last year with the Mac OS Sonoma update and all the issues we had with DropBox? There was a particular version that caused syncing to go haywire. I remember it all too well, as it took us almost a month to figure out how to fix the problem. What will happen with Mac OS Sequoia? I admit, I'm quite anxious and would appreciate some reassurance from the DropBox team. Thanks.9.8KViews8likes64CommentsDesktop app saying "Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment" on Windows 10
A few days ago Dropbox Desktop (Basic plan) stopped synchronizing with the cloud: neither files that I update in my computer are uploaded nor files that other upload into the share folders. The message that appears is "Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment". Nothing has changed in the PC, no updates, and the network works well except for this. There are other, older posts with similar issues, but I have not seen a solution so far. They mention a problem with the firewall, which I check and does not seem to be my case. Any advice on how to address this? This is my most used facility. Serious issue now that all entries have vanished - especially 'CopyDropbox link'. Tried all the obvious restarts (Dropbox, File Explorer, my Win 10 desktop PC(. No sync issues. Terry, UK409Views0likes10CommentsI can't install Dropbox on Fedora 40
Hello, I'm running Fedora 40 and cannot install Dropbox on my computer. After downloading the .rpm file from the Dropbox download page, it will run through the installation and daemon install process, give me a Dropbox icon in my apps but this will not activate anything after attempting to launch the program. I have no antivirus, firewall is not an issue and I have only one device. It used to work up until a short while ago but is now completely inaccessible. I've seen all the suggested possible solutions but none of them solves the issue. Is Dropbox even worth the trouble these days? It seems not but I don't give up easily. Fresh suggestions welcome. Thank you.3KViews0likes19CommentsUbuntu stuck in "Starting ..." and no Dropbox folder location is shown
Hi, my symptoms are very similar to what other posts have reported, after connecting a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 installation dropbox is stuck in status "starting ....". I raised the `fs.inotify.max_user_watches` as suggested in several threads, but frankly, my older laptop with Ubuntu 24.04 and far more files is happy at default 65536. However, when opening the graphical settings on the stuck machine, in the `Sync` tab there is no folder location configured, and clicking on "Move" does not open a selector to choose another location. The $HOME/Dropbox is formatted as ext4, not encrypted, and mounted upon startup. => What could prevent Dropbox from knowing the Dropbox location after installation ? How to manually set it as a workaround ? Yours, SteffenSolved469Views0likes5CommentsCan't Clear Notification Icon

Hi I'm on macOS 14.4.1 and Dropbox keeps giving me the notification "Dropbox for macOS on File Provider is now ready", but I don't want install this update. Is there a solution to stop receiving this message without having to install the update? ThanksSolved2.8KViews0likes6CommentsAccess to more than 3 devices with the Basic plan.
This is a personal Basic account. I am the only user. I have never shared files. I had 3 devices on Dropbox for many years and now would like to add a new device. Projects for which I need to use files that are stored on Dropbox are located on the 4 different devices, but I only need to be able to access files on one device at a time. Just need to clarify that I can still have access to all 4 devicesand can keep the files synced as long as I am signed in to no more than 3 devices at any one time. In other words, when I sign out of Device (A) in order to be able to add and edit files on the 4th Device (D), will I be able to sync the files on Device (A) after I sign out of Device (B), (C), or (D) and sign back in to (A)? This would allow me to keep files on all 4 devices in a rotating state of being synced by signing in and out of devices until all are synced.Solved2.2KViews0likes11CommentsWhy is there no Dropbox icon on my taskbar in Windows 11?
I just got a new desktop PC running Windows 11. I have two Dropbox accounts (personal and work). The existing Dropbox folders from my old PC were copied onto my new PC. Nothing was synching, and there was NO Dropbox icon in my taskbar, nor on my desktop (after installing Dropbox TWICE). So I uninstalled Dropbox and reinstalled it, which seems to have worked normally (it asked me which account I wanted to sign into, and finished with a webpage with an "Open Dropbox" button that purportedly would open the desktop app). But it apparently created ANOTHER Dropbox folder on my PC (so now I have 3), and there is STILL no Dropbox icon in my taskbar. On my desktop, there is only a shortcut to the (new) Dropbox folder, which is apparently set to "cloud only". Clicking the "Open Dropbox" button on the webpage gives me an hourglass for a few seconds, but does nothing else (nothing opens). I'd like to synch to my work Dropbox, but apparently that requires opening the (non-existent?) desktop app. So... • What is going on?? Why is there no Dropbox icon? • It showed me both of my Dropbox accounts during the installation process. Why does it only let me choose ONE (and then NOT synch to my existing folder)?? This is getting VERY frustrating!Solved1.7KViews0likes13Comments
