Dropbox Family
86 TopicsFamily plan is too expensive for what it offers
While I would like to have the ability for my wife and I to share a combined account with our own individual logins - it's not worth the extra $80/year, almost doubling the cost for only a limited increase in features. If it came with double the storage I might consider it, but even then I'm not sure I need that much more storage at the moment. Please reconsider the pricing on the family plan as I will never upgrade at anywhere near that price. It makes more sense to just have 2 Plus accounts since it comes with the extra storage. With the amount of competition out there for similar cloud storage, it's getting more difficult to justify the cost of dropbox, so I was really expecting a minimal increase in price, if any at all versus the Plus plan I am currently paying for.13KViews21likes32CommentsGet support for your paid Dropbox account

I'm on a monthly Family plan with 2TB of storage and was wondering if anyone knew of an upcoming Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale. I'd like to switch to yearly billing, and I know many companies offer larger discounts on yearly plans during BF/CM, so I was thinking this would be a good time to do so if there was going to be a good sale. I see there's a generic discount baked into switching to yearly, but I'd prefer to snag a lower sale price if possible.Solved6.5KViews2likes3CommentsHow to go from Dropbox Plus Account to Having Family Account
I currently have my own Plus account and realize my wife can't access the images I have there as her account doesn't have enough space. Looks like having a Family account is a good solution so how best to migrate there? Also, I purchased the Plus account through my iOS app, so does that make the whole conversion process different? Thanks!1.7KViews2likes4CommentsMessage from Dropbox about completing date of birth by 1st September or lose Family Plan Access
I received the same email & have the same issue. I can't find where to update the DOB from! This truly frustrating for how much we pay for this service. Not to mention that we store important personal and business data on it. DropBox team, please sort this out!Solved6.7KViews2likes57CommentsBe a dropbox premium user for more than 10 years, but very disappointed this time...
Couple of weeks ago I planned to subscribe the family plan via App Store share it with my family, but clicked the wrong button and subscrbed the plus plan for single user. Then I applied for a refund and Apple returned it to me. At this time, my dropbox plan is still Plus, however I decided to resubscribe the family plan before the plus plan expires in order to avoid I forgot to resubscribe and my dropbox plan turned basic. So I used my App Store credit to subscribe the family plan before the plus plan expires, my credit was deducted and I received an invoice from App in my email account as the screenshot shows. [removed] After the plus plan expires, the nightmare begins. My plans turns basic, and my App Store account in iOS settings shows I am still subscribing the plan as the screenshot shows . I've been trying to upgrade to a paid plan for a few days now. When I choose the plan, fill in the credit card info, agree to the Dropbox terms, and click PURCHASE the page doesn't let me go to the next step. No info pops out, the page just stays the same. I tried switching browsers and tried different credit cards and different plans. But no progress.1.2KViews1like10CommentsFeedback about the Family plan
Hey Dropbox, I've got something to tell you, and you might not like to hear it, I have had the family plan since 2019, and I think it's been nearly that long since the FAQ promised that an add-on option to increase capacity would be "coming soon." Depending on where you get your market data, household data storage has grown at a CAGR of around 19.5%. So, if 2TB was appropriate for a family to use in 2019, that baseline number should be nearly 5TB today. You see the problem.... The Famly Plan is beginning to not service a family's needs in 2024. Here is a perspective: - We have WiFi 7, which is ridiculously fast for wireless; I would never have believed this would be a consumer technology in 2024 - ISPs are rolling out 10G ethernet service in major metros - We can purchase 22TB hard drives - Everybody is a "creator" shooting 4k video and recording 32-bit-float audio....on their phones (well, not the audio, but that's coming) - Dropbox thinks a family only needs 2TB of cloud storage....wait, what? (*sing along* One of these things is not like the others...) Look, I'm going to tell it to you straight because I love you, Dropbox, I know there are reasons for this not being rolled out. I can imagine all the balancing that has to be done vs. other plans in your portfolio, new features being rolled out and supported, how to manage the scale across failure domains, etc. But it's gone on for too long, and it's time. You've got to grow as we have grown. You're pushing me away into the hands of another cloud storage provider, groping greedy hands all over my family's data *ugh*. I don't want to leave, but in not too long, I won't have a choice...I've got to think about what's best for my family. We've been so good together; take a moment to remember the good times and give us the capacity we need...please. ❤️1.3KViews1like5Comments
