I want to send my landlord a copy of my ID, a bank account statement, and some paystubs. This is sensitive information, so I would rather not email it, but after exploring the various options that dropbox offers, I think this is my only option. - "Dropbox Transfer" doesn't work because my landlord doesn't have dropbox. - "Dropbox DocSend" doesn't work for a number of reasons. - I want to send a folder with 3 files. - I don't want to pay a ton of extra money for this to work. I already pay for Dropbox Plus. My Question is: What kind of Dropbox plan/subscription would I need to make this work? I have Dropbox Plus, do I need to upgrade that? Is a "Dropbox DocSend" subscription something different? Overall I am disappointed at the moment in two things. 1) This seems like a really basic, simple thing to do, and moreover, it is something that will help prevent crime and identity theft. Why doesn't Dropbox support it? (or at least why do they reserve this feature only for larger business accounts) 2) The pricing structure / feature structure is obscured and is confusing. I think the end solution will be that I just email my landlord these documents. Hopefully they stay safe.Solved330Views0likes3CommentsThe Dropbox desktop application will no longer be supported for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 on October 22nd
Congratulations Dropbox! You've just put the nail in the coffin of all W7 users who prefer not to be spied on and constantly used for data scraping! Well done. If the constant scaremonger nagging about running out of space, the constant begging to upgrade, the incessant app updating demands, the constant USB device interrogation upon connection wasn't enough of an incentive to finally ditch Dropbox for good, then the cutting off of users of a still perfectly good and functional, non-spyware infested OS will be the last straw. Thank you Dropbox for giving me the incentive to go to your competitors instead and get out of your ever more bloated crapware ecosystem. Sometimes, people need a little push to get away from what's comfortable and familiar, even though they suspect just how bad that relationship is for them. I thank you Dropbox for giving me this little push. Goodbye.6.3KViews9likes26CommentsWhat is the best way to sync large files efficiently across devices in Dropbox?
What’s the best way to sync large files across multiple devices in Dropbox without running into storage limits or slow upload speeds? Are there specific settings or features that can help optimize this process?Solved429Views0likes3CommentsHow can I restore my account to a version with older files?
I have the basic dropbox on two computers - say Desktop and Laptop. Due to a Desktop restore from Idrive cloud backup my dropbox on Desktop has updated with old folders/files which were previously deleted or modified and a sync operation up to the max memory allowed in basic account has occured (dropbox stopped sync as memory got full) so now I have incorrect contents on the Web dropbox. I cannot use the rewind facillity as its a basic account (tells be to go buy an upgrade if I try and rewind a folder}. To get back to my dropbox before it got accidentaly updated with old stuff, my idea is to to uninstall dropbox from Desktop and delete the local dropbox folder. My Laptop was not turned on at the time so that holds the correct Dropbox contents. If I now log into my dropbox web account via a browser and delete all files and folders in the web account and then turn on the Laptop, will the dropbox on my Laptop Sync/upload to the dropbox account and effectively recreate the correct contents. on the Dropbox Web account. I can then re install dropbox on the Desktop and the dropbox will now download from the Web and be correct on the Desktop. Will this work please? I am looking for an App that will let me backup Dropbox for Business into external server. I found that I can use Synology Drive Client to do back up into my NAS server. But the process is very slow. We do have Back Up through DropBox. But I am looking for additional option to external media. In my case a NAS server. Any suggestions?371Views0likes5CommentsExternal users prompted to join team when shared a file
Dirty practice from Dropbox to prompt a recipient of a shared file to be asked to join your team. This prompt confuses the recipient of the file who requests to join the team and therefore Dropbox gains another paid user. This user (from another company) if added to the team by an overworked I.T. dept who isn't paying attention, then gains access to the company files. Please re-work your prompt system and remove the option to request access to join the team. We can add members to the team from the admin console and this is the most secure way to do this. This fault is obviously a great way for Dropbox to gain 'accidental' paid users at the expense of security. I receive a few of these emails each month and each time it's just Dropbox testing myintelligence again to see if I will accidentally add a totally random person to access our company files by mistake. This is absolutely not secure file storage and is designed to be misleading. It is frustrating that Dropbox is actively phishing. Disabling the ability of a user to request to join a team (from outside your company) would resolve this. It is hard to imagine a scenario where you would want to add (and pay for) an external user to your team. If you did need this feature, it would be a deliberate action and the cost involved would need to be approved (an ongoing subscription - the worst kind of cost). Email requests from external users would of course be ignored and make no impact on the purchase of the license. The current short term fix i can suggest is just setting Dropbox emails to block/spam/autodelete. Thanks for reading this far.270Views0likes5CommentsHow can I rotate users with a fixed number of licenses in a business plan?
We are small organisation where three people from the management should share documents. We decided to purchase Dropbox Business with 3 licenses. One person created the Dropbox account, and automatically became ADMIN. His email become the address used by Dropbox to communicate the issues affecting the whole team. Other people were invited by admin via invitation process. Now - in this organisation, management regularly rotate - one or more people leave the management, other people enter management. At any given time, there are at most 3 people in the management. What is the correct procedure to manage Dropbox accounts in this scenario? For example - when Admin person is replaced in the management, how to transfer ADMIN role to differrent user? There are two scenario variants: a) tranfer ADMIN role to already existing user b) transfer ADMIN role to newly added user - this, however, temporarily increases the number of users by 1 🙂 How to solve this?62Views0likes5CommentsOnce I upload my files with camera uploads, can I delete the local ones?
Once I successfully upload my photos to Dropbox from my Camera Roll on my iPhone and iPad, can I delete those photos - or some of them - from my devices (to free-up space) and if I do, what happens to them? Thanks!Solved179Views0likes2Comments
