When deleting "online-only" files or folders, I got asked for confirmation with a pop up, but there is no "do not show this next time" checkbox. I know what I'm doing when I delete files and I don't need Dropbox to babysit me. How can I make that popup go away forever?17KViews27likes39CommentsWarning that other users already have an autocad file open
Is there any way to enable a warning that another user has an autocad file open when you go to open that same file throught dropbox? I am looking for something similar to the dropbox badge that appears when you open files in mircrosoft products.12KViews12likes15CommentsSending Dropbox Paper notifications to slack
Hi, We're looking to make more use of Paper for project and task management but a key thing for us is the ability to send notifications (of task due dates, etc..) to a slack channel as opposed to email. Is this possible? If so, how? Thanks.12KViews13likes15CommentsWe need a warning messages for invalid character filenames.
Example: User creates a file named "foo/bar?.txt" in MacOS (? is an invalid character in windows). Under windows the file will not download and the folder appears to be empty. The user can try to move or delete the folder but the folder re-appears after a few seconds. Cause: Invalid cahracter in filename (:? etc.). I understand that there is a check that can be done for these invalid filenames via:https://www.dropbox.com/bad_files_check Solution: Provide the user with a warning that some files could not be downloaded due to incompatable filenames. Provide anautomatic resolution, removing the invalid characters. When sending a file through Dropbox Transfer, you get notified everytime a file will expire within 2 days. When you send all of your work to your clients through Dropbox Transfer, you get quite a lot of these e-mails and they start to clutter up your inbox. It would be practical to have control over all notifications related to Dropbox Transfer in the settings.11KViews42likes36CommentsNew folder creation - Option to change default behavior of "Send an email notification" checkbox
This idea would solve a lot of issues and address many complaints. Creating the option to change a default behavior when creating a new folder within a parent folder. Currently you cannot modify the checkbox below from being checked by default when creating a new folder. If you do not un-check the box, an email notification is sent to every member of the parent folder. Please see a screenshot of the dialogue box and checkbox in question:4.2KViews9likes22CommentsEmail Notifications - Admin should have ability to toggle on or off by team or individual
Our teams function separately and we don't want team members to receive summary or activity emails. I don't like the precedent it sets for monitoring/comparing hours and changes to files, outside of the Administrative or Managerial capacity. It allows people to ask questions and "check up on" coworkers in a way that we don't like. Why can't I turn of those email summaries and notifications depending upon user role? No one needs to be getting them - if anyone there should be the option for Admin Only. Currently this can only be adjusted on individual accounts and it has already created an issue in the first week.2.1KViews2likes3CommentsStop pushing marketing/advertising via notifications
Today there was a red dot over my Dropbox icon, with no obvious explanation. After Web searching, I found out that this means a notification is available. I had to search in Dropbox to find how to read the notifications, then I found that it was advertising for the paid Dropbox plans. My suggestions are two: 1. Allow a click on the red dot (and something appropriate on the keyboard) to read notifications so we don't have to hunt down how to read them. 2. Stop advertising through notifications. A notification might be something important, but when it turns out just to be representative of the usual corporate greed, that is very uncomfortable.1.9KViews3likes2CommentsAsk for user confirmation of deletion when the Dropbox folder can't be found at boot
Hello, I just had the desktop app unwantedly delete over 12,000 files (30GB). I was able to undelete them all, but had to wait for them all to download from the cloud again. What happened was as follows: Starting configuration: SSD 1 is my system drive and contains my Dropbox application. SSD 2 contains my Dropbox folder. SSD 3 is brand new and empty. (1) I migrated Windows from SSD 1 to SSD 3. (2) I booted from SSD 3. Everything seemed good. Dropbox started automatically, running from SSD 3. (3) I moved my Dropbox folder from SSD 2 to SSD 3, did other stuff, then hibernated the computer. (4) The next day I accidentally booted from SSD 1, which wasn't wiped or changed during the migration. The old installation of the Dropbox app started automatically, found that its local files on SSD 2 were all gone**, and immediately synced this information to the cloud. I figured out what was happening and stopped it after about 1 minute. (5) I booted back up from SSD 3. That copy of the Dropbox application contacted the cloud and then started deleting all my local files as fast as it could. ** At this point in the process, the application should tell the user that all the local files inexplicably disappeared while the computer was off, and ask for confirmation that it was intentional.1.8KViews0likes2Comments
