42 TopicsFlag file/folder for another team member
Collaboration feature, right click and select flag, dialogue allows you to select a team member or whole team, team members receive notification with clickable link to display the target *on their file system*, regardless of the OS platform they are using. Its currently impossible to share a file/folder location to another team member, sharing links go to the website with no way of jumping to the same location locally on their computer, and alias don’t work across platforms. Users are sending screenshots of file systems at each other or abbreviated path notes that are often incorrect. Alt implementation: if the target of a sharing link already exists in a recipients Dropbox add a ‘show in file system’ link to the email, alongside the link to Dropbox.com, or don’t even bother with the email and instead just notify with the link.145Views0likes2CommentsShared link bandwidth monitor for Dropbox users to prevent breaking bandwidth limits
A tool designed to monitor real-time bandwidth usage for Dropbox users, aimed at preventing the maximum limit of 1TB from being reached. This solution sends customizable alerts when bandwidth consumption reaches critical thresholds (e.g., 75%, 90%) and provides detailed daily or weekly reports. This way, users can proactively manage their service usage, ensuring continuous access without interruptions due to exceeding the bandwidth limit.112Views0likes2CommentsSend me emails with the receipts of payments when my account is renewed
As a user, I want to receive a notification email when I am charged that contains my purchase receipt (date, amount) in the body so that I can easily find and forward this receipt to our bookkeeping system. I want to receive it by email so that my monthly process is more efficient and simple. Currently, it takes more than 15 actions/clicks to accomplish what could be automated with a simple inbox rule. Current process: Dropbox.com > Login > Account (clicking face) > Manage Account > Billing > Three dots beside the relevant month > Receipt > Print > Save as PDF > Save > Rename file with date > Save > Open email inbox > New > Add sender/subject/text > attach > send.288Views0likes3CommentsAsk for user confirmation of deletion when the Dropbox folder can't be found at boot
Hello, I just had the desktop app unwantedly delete over 12,000 files (30GB). I was able to undelete them all, but had to wait for them all to download from the cloud again. What happened was as follows: Starting configuration: SSD 1 is my system drive and contains my Dropbox application. SSD 2 contains my Dropbox folder. SSD 3 is brand new and empty. (1) I migrated Windows from SSD 1 to SSD 3. (2) I booted from SSD 3. Everything seemed good. Dropbox started automatically, running from SSD 3. (3) I moved my Dropbox folder from SSD 2 to SSD 3, did other stuff, then hibernated the computer. (4) The next day I accidentally booted from SSD 1, which wasn't wiped or changed during the migration. The old installation of the Dropbox app started automatically, found that its local files on SSD 2 were all gone**, and immediately synced this information to the cloud. I figured out what was happening and stopped it after about 1 minute. (5) I booted back up from SSD 3. That copy of the Dropbox application contacted the cloud and then started deleting all my local files as fast as it could. ** At this point in the process, the application should tell the user that all the local files inexplicably disappeared while the computer was off, and ask for confirmation that it was intentional.1.8KViews0likes2CommentsAllow us to see all new comments quickly to reply without having to manually open them individually
I know I can be the only one. I send out 100 images/files you name it and then 20-40 get comments for revisions or get selected. There is no way for us currently, as the editor, to just look at the commented-on files and systematically respond, one after the other...like Frame.io or other platforms. This means you need to click on every SINGLE COMMENT in the activity section of DB OR cycle through every image/ file like your client already did... a waste of time. Create a filter by comments or give us the proper UI/UX to actually use the comments in a workflow that is relevant. C'mon DB, so close and yet so far from being a good client-facing review tool plus storage...but you don't want to go there and I personally don't get it...aren't we paying enough?888Views0likes4CommentsAlarm/notification on file/folder
While having the Dropbox app running, then right-click on a folder/file and add a date/time notification related to that folder/file. E.g. I get a mail April 4th, that I need to report statistics by November 20th. I save the document containing login links to the site and additional information. I then right-click the document and add a reminder for November 15th. I know there are many, many ways to do the same thing e.g. copying the link to the file and add it in the calendar etc. But above would be making it really, really easy. Oh, and a calendar view showing future notifications406Views0likes2Comments
