As per support ticket #23762350(opened 19 May, no answer for 3 weeks), my MacBook Pro desktop, documents and downloads folders were wiped and made inaccessible when my employer moved to close our business account. None of my colleagues (some on the same iOS and seemingly with the same sync settings) encountered this issue. I understand our files are supposed to be stored for 90 days as a failsafe but since I cannot log back into my defunct work profile to alter or reset any strange sync settings I am stuck as to how to recover these files or at the very least recover functionality of my essential folders. Since a quick search of the forum suggests this is a common bug I'm baffled that the Support Desk deem fit to leave this issue on 'being investigated' status for going on two months. ANY advice from the community or a Dropbox engineer would be hugely appreciated since I have not only lost several years worth of important professional and personal files but also cannot use my computer as normal. Hi, Since 2019 I was using dropbox free version. Last month someone shared some data to me on dropbox and after downloading them I asked him withdraw the sharing but by mistake he suspended my account and after the I could not see my data on desktop app and when he removed the suspension, I could successfully login but my data on desktop app was still not visible. So, I had downloaded and installed the app again and it started downloading the data but after downloading I am seeing that I have lost all my data almost 18GBs from June 2021 to May 2024. I tried to recover them from C drive but failed. Can anyone suggest, if there is any way to recover them ?1.4KViews0likes10CommentsHelp! Dropbox files completely gone after disconnecting from joint account
Hi, hoping someone can help. I recently linked my Dropbox to a client's account in order to more easily view/share files. I chose the option to merge my Dropbox with the client's, which meant that I was essentially using their Dropbox both to save off the files I was working on with them + other job-related or personal files, which the platform reassured me would be put into my own personal, private folders. I could see from the icon that these files which didn't relate to the client were visible tojust me and no-one else (or at least assumed!!). When I finished my work with that client, they deleted my account from their Dropbox in order to give it to someone else. I assumed that this would mean that I would revert to having my personal Dropbox account with the files I had not been sharing with the client. However, it appears to have deleted my entire personal account too! I can no longer access any DB file from my PC - from the desktop app, it was listing the account as '[Client]'s Dropbox', so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I also tried logging into my personal DB online but it said it had been deleted and that I'd have to re-register. When I did, it is basically a completely new account and none of my files are there. I also cannot restore files using any of the usual channnels. Has anyone had this issue before? It seems like quite a fundamental flaw that the app offers the option to merge with another Dropbox account, but then deletes everything the moment you disconnect from it... help on how to resolve this would be much appreciated!!1.5KViews0likes7CommentsLost my desktop files after getting removed from Dropbox Business team
Hello, let me explain what happened. I had my own account where I stored all my work files, but they were still linked to my download folder. Now that I've left my job, my account was deleted along with my entire downloads folder. After 5 days, my account was restored by the admins and dropbox, but my downloads folder remains empty - I've lost all my files. As a filmmaker still in school, these files are crucial for my projects. I'm in urgent need of assistance. The 7-day deadline for recovery is approaching, and I risk losing them permanently. Please help.Solved857Views0likes6CommentsHow can I restore my original Dropbox?
Trying to get hold of support on this one because it's driving me insane! I originally had a personal account with 5gb and all of my honeymoon photos in it. Some friends of mine overseas gave me access to their business dropbox last year, which they have since cancelled, however, it appears to have connected it self to my login ID because I've lost access to all of my honeymoon pictures and personal files and if somebody shares access to a file it won't let me look at it unless I spend $30 a month to restore the 2 TB drive that the business was originally using!! All I want is somebody at bloody dropbox to get in touch with me and restore my account to how it was before anything happened, because I literally cannot do anything at the moment because it wants me to renew my subscription I never had!! if anybody from dropbox is listening I sent an email. Can you please reply to me on it and get in touch because Google Drive is looking really appealing right now after this. I'm pretty upset that my honeymoon photos have disappeared without a trace as well, because that's the only copy I had. Hopefully this is not a waste of time posting in the community-I've tried looking everywhere for answers and I can't find them which is why I've emailed dropbox directly. The next step will be to ring them which I'm not keen on doing as I'm not in the US.Solved2.2KViews0likes16CommentsNeed help with separating personal account from Business one
I mistakenly have combined my personal files with a business account of a nonprofit. I also did a sync that created a separate library of what appears to be files and folders on my Mac that were not synced to the account. I need to get my personal account separated from the business account and then update my own folders and files.418Views0likes1CommentPersonal folder taking up space on Dropbox business account.
