5 Topics100s of the same 'permission' notifications on my desktop all day long for several months now
Can someone help me stop getting same permission messages from dropbox all day long - no matter what I do they just keep on showing every few min/hours - I want to know what is going on and how to permanently stop this action? Is my db account hacked or what? Any idea.. please?Solved2KViews0likes11CommentsDesktop app requests admin password on macOS
Years ago I stopped using Dropbox, because it kept insisting that I enter my admin password for my Mac into a fake looking dialog box. Now I had to re-install it, because a customer insists on using Dropbox. This issue still persists: When signing into my macOS user account, Dropbox pops up a dialog asking me to hand over admin privileges, providing me with a vague reason. I always deny that and I will continue to refuse entering my password. How do I stop Dropbox from asking?1.4KViews1like4CommentsMy Home folder is buried within my dropbox
Hi folks. I have no idea what happened but some time recently Dropbox started behaving INSANELY for a few days. I kind of ignored what was going on to get work projects out the door and now I am trying to discern what is happening. Basically, my Finder (MacOS Ventura13.4.1 (22F82)) randomly hangs/crashes (SBBOD) whenever I try to do some basic stuff like open a file, or open a file within a programme, or send something to the bin. I have used Dropbox for years and have happily worked with my Documents Folder being with my Dropbox folder and it all has worked perfectly. Last year, there was some sort of kerfuffle with a message offering to back up my whole computer (and virtual PC) which I may have accidentally clicked but things went awry and I think I switched back off. That was about a year ago. Today, I found out Ventura has shifted all Cloud Storage folders to a folder within the Library. From the screenshot I can see that Dropbox appears as a folder within CloudStorage, as it probably should be. However, my computer Documents folder is where it should be, on my Mac, but THAT is also in the Dropbox folder within CloudStorage. What is going on? How does this work? Might this explain why I am having permission issues opening folders and files? And may this confusion have something to do with my Finder not knowing where stuff really is? Any help greatly appreciated. I also have been getting this error message a few times when Rebooting over the last few weeks. Maybe it's connected? I dunno...1.3KViews0likes3CommentsCan't select an app to open just a single file
On MacOS, I want to set the application that opens an individual file, but not all files of that type. Outside my Dropbox folder, that works as usual, but inside it,when I go to "get info", and then change the "open with" app, I get a pop up that says "You don’t have permission to change the application for this document only. Do you want to change all similar documents to open with the application X?" I've done this many times in the past, including with the same file type and app in my Dropbox folder, so I suspect it has to do with the move to the File Provider API. I'm an admin, and I have read and write permissions on the file. It's a .md file that I want to open with VS Code.MacOS v13.0 (22A380), Dropbox v190.4.6383, Dropbox Plus.658Views0likes3Comments
