I use clip studio paint for work and I need to be able to see the thumbnails for the files to navigate them quickly. By default windows allows me to do this and it has been that way for years, as well as when looking at them in the file explorer for the program. Some big update went out for Dropbox recently, and how SPECIFICALLY in the dropbox folders I can no longer see my thumbnails. They are not online-only. I have triple checked. They are simply not showing. When I paste them onto my desktop, lo and behold they show again. This is entirely on the fault of the recent Dropbox update and I don't know how to fix it. It has disrupted my workflow and has be looking into new backup options when I've been using Dropbox for almost 15 years. Can someone please help?192Views1like17CommentsI can't edit images on my Mac computer and they no longer preview in my Paper documents either.
Images in Dropbox on my Mac (OS Sonoma 14.7.5) have been giving me problems when I edit them in the Preview app. I get told I donât have permission to edit. Following odd hints I opened FULL DISK ACCESS for Dropbox. MISTAKE! Images stopped showing in all my PAPER docs. Both on my Mac and my iPhone 16. They all say âCouldnât Load Previewâ where each image was. I undid the FULL DISK ACCESS, tried restarts, but canât fix the problem! Dropbox and Paper seem otherwise OK.17Views0likes3Comments'Couldn't load - Something went wrong at our end' error when trying to preview my photos
Morning, I am unable to view/preview any uploaded photos using Dropbox on my desktop browser. No thumbnail previews are displayed and when I open the photo, I am displayed the "Couldn't load - Something went wrong at our end" message. I tried creating a new folder and added a new photo to it with the same result. I downloaded one of the previous photos and was able to view the image successfully on several applications on my laptop. Using an Apple Macbook Pro iOS Sequoia 15.4.1 and am using a Free Account with 290MB used of the 2GB space. What's up guys?116Views1like11CommentsCan't preview photos in Dropbox folder when files are online-only
One of my team members updated to a new computer and now she cannot see any previews for photos that are online only. It is important for our workflow to see the image previews online only becausee we work with thousands of images in our catalogs. I am on an older Mac but both of us are on the same OS (15.3) and I can see previews no problem. Contacted DB support and they did not fix the issue. Tried a "hard reinstall" as supposed by DB support but did not work. They are not offering any other help which is very disappointing considering how many licenses we pay for. Anyone else able to fix this issue? Thanks in advance for your help!Solved170Views0likes11CommentsImage previews in Explorer only showing the compressed preview for local files on Windows
Hello. Since the big Dropbox update in February 2025 I have been experiencing issues. I mainly use Dropbox in Windows file explorer, not on the Dropbox App / Site. I have Dropbox for Windows on 3 separate devices: (2) Windows 11 Laptops, and (1) Windows 10 Desktop - and I have am having the same issue on all devices. The main issue is image previews in the "preview pane" of the Windows file explorer. Before the update, if I had an image saved locally / set to "available offline", a full preview of the image would show up in the preview pane, just as it would if I was in a local folder on my computer, like my "Pictures" folder, or whatever. Also, images that were only in the cloud / set to "online only" would display a small compressed preview in the preview pane, which is fine. Since the February update, when I am in my Dropbox folder with images that have been downloaded locally, it will either only generate a small compressed preview in the preview pane, or no preview at all, and it takes a very long time for the preview to show up. However, the "online only" images are still behaving the same, showing only a small compressed preview in the preview pane, however the preview shows up faster than it does for a locally saved file... So strange. I do a lot of image editing and graphic design, so not being able to quickly scroll through my image folders and look at the previews puts a massive kink in my workflow. It has been driving me insane. It's like the Dropbox Windows app is having difficulty discerning which files are downloaded locally or just in the cloud. For some reason it is treating the downloaded files like they are still in the cloud, or even worse for some reason as sometimes a preview won't even load, compressed or otherwise. The green checkmark is there on the file, but the previews are compressed or don't show up at all. And this it not an intermittent problem, it is constant and has not gotten better since the update in February. I have been resorting to moving the images into a local folder on whichever device I am currently using so that I am able to scroll through them efficiently, and then re-upload them to the Dropbox folder when I am done working, and then download them to a local folder again on my next device. It is very annoying to do every time. There has to be a better way. I also checked the functionality of my OneDrive and iCloud folders in Windows, and they all show previews in the preview pane just fine, just like my local Windows folders. It is solely a Dropbox issue. I tried searching Reddit and could find nothing, so I started my own post on there, and there are a handful of other people that have come forward with the same problem. Someone from Dropbox commented on my Reddit post and suggested that I post on here, so here I am. Any help out there?? Thank you.Solved294Views1like11CommentsUnsupported file error, I can't preview some images on my account
