Shared Folders
849 TopicsError "We have paused your sharing activity. Your files may contain phishing items".
When I try to share a folder I get the following error: "Unable to share file: Error in call to API function /2/sharing/add_folder_member: We have paused your sharing activity. Your files may contain phishing items." I have tried to find solutions online but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me? I can't even contact support. I shared a folder (years ago) and now it has disappeared from my Dropbox, but still exists in the other person's Dropbox and still shows me as the owner. It is not in my deleted files. How can I recover access to the folder?32Views0likes4Comments"You're out of storage" message on a shared folder when space is available.
A user that has "Can edit" access to one of our shared Dropbox folders is getting a "You're out of storage" message when trying to add files. However, we have 98%+ of our 2 Tb free which is far more than enough for the files that they are trying to add. Any idea what might cause this please?Solved34Views0likes3CommentsI can't see files someone uploaded to my folder with the shared link
I am the owner of a folder. I shared the folder with the link for editing. The person I shared with uploaded photos to the folder but I can't see them. I can see that the person I shared with is listed under "Who can access" but I only see what I uploaded and I can't see anything she uploaded. I've tried logging in to Dropbox on my phone and by web browser on my Mac and still nothing. I've also logged out and logged in and it that didn't help either.15Views0likes1CommentI no longer see the option to leave a copy of the shared folder I'm unsharing to its members.
My question is what happens when I "remove" a share email. And what happens if I just delete the folder without removing the shares first? In previous versions of Dropbox I was able to un-share a folder (I am the owner) with the option to let other users keep the contents. I could then delete the folder without removing their content. Today (March 2025) I am not finding those options. It appears I can only remove shared emails with no option for them to keep their copy of the files?67Views0likes13CommentsChanging ownership of all files owned by former team member.
Hi We plan to remove and reallocate the dropbox memberships of two team members who have left our organisation. However, they both had a bunch of shared folders which they are the listed owner of. Is there a way of seeing what all the folders a particular member owns are and changing ownership of all of them? I do have their logins as they were work accounts so could either do it via their accounts or as the admin of the team. Alternatively, if they are just deleted from the team, will the shared folders that they own also be deleted? Or will they still remain viewable to the other accounts that they are shared with. Thanks MarkSolved33Views0likes3CommentsI can't access shared folder due to lack of storage space - do I need to upgrade?
I use dropbox occasionally. I have a free account, one I've had for years. This morning I logged in to access some files a friend shared w/me & dropbox will not let me access it unless I upgrade to some "plan". That page is the same page with which I was greeted upon logging in. I'm at about 650 mg of my 2G free account limit. I am not over storage, unless my free account has been somehow restricted/modified. I've tried several times to access the notification to "join folder" from my friend, only to be taken to this prompt:Solved95Views0likes8CommentsReceiving Too Many Mounts error even though I do not have more than 1500 folders.
My app uses the Dropbox API to create folders, upload files and share the folders and recently I started getting an error message about exceeding the tree size. After getting this I re-organized a bunch of folders so I no longer have more than 1500 folders within 1 parent folder. I am able to create and share more folders if done through the web interface, but it doesn't seem to work through the API even after moving folders around. I get the following response when calling the /sharing/share_folder endpoint. Is there something weird going on where Dropbox 'remembers' where a folder was when it was originally shared, and even though I've moved it, it still counts as a shared folder within it's prior parent folder? {"error_summary": "too_many_mounts/tree_size_exceeded/.", "error": {".tag": "too_many_mounts", "too_many_mounts": {".tag": "tree_size_exceeded", "limit": 1500, "current_count": 1500, "new_count": 1501}}, "user_message": {"locale": "en", "text": "Your Dropbox account has reached the limit for shared folders."}} <br />43Views0likes1Comment
