Storage space

I was added to a shared folder to upload footage to, so I created an account to gain access, but when uploading it says that I am on a basic plan and capped at 2GB. My client has upgraded the plan, but mine says I am still on basic, do I have to upgrade my own plan to upload to his folder?32Views0likes3CommentsI'd like to sync my Dropbox files both on an internal and external drive.
Hello, Feature: the ability to sync Dropbox folders to two separate locations on the same device. Here’s my use case: The Problem I work on a laptop with limited internal storage, which makes it impossible to sync all my Dropbox files locally. I do use Selective Sync to only download the folders I need. However, I often find myself needing access to unsynced files. This creates a workflow which is fairly tedious: I have to search for the file via the Dropbox web interface, which neither quick or the easiest to navigate, especially when multiple versions of a file exist, and there's no previews. After downloading the file, I extract what I need (I’m works as a graphic designer, so this often means copying a single element). I then delete the file. This happens often enough, and it's not only tedious, but time-consuming too. What I’d love is the ability to sync Dropbox to two locations on the same device: Location 1: My laptop’s internal hard drive, with Selective Sync enabled. Location 2: An external hard drive that syncs all (or most) of my Dropbox content, acting as a complete backup. This would allow me to: Use my laptop’s internal drive for day-to-day work with the files I access frequently. Quickly retrieve any unsynced files from the external drive without needing to download them manually from the web interface. Avoid having to carry the external drive around all the time. I could keep it connected at home, and use the laptop’s synced folder when working elsewhere. I’ve tried to come up with alternatives to this to mimic it, like: Move the Dropbox folder entirely to an external drive. This frees up space on the laptop, but makes the external drive essential for any file access. Use two Dropbox accounts. One account could sync to my external drive, and another to my laptop. However, keeping them in sync requires additional tools or manual effort, which complicates things, and I'm not even sure it's possible either. Manually copy files between devices. This is, again, tedious and error-prone, especially for large or folders I work in often. Am I missing something obvious here, or is there a third-party tool or workaround that could achieve this setup or something close enough?36Views1like1CommentOur old computer crashed and the one we're using now is trying to sync old files.
Our computer at work crashed unexpectedly. My Dropbox account which I use for work has 2 shared folders. We are now up and running on a back up computer that I had used Dropbox on previously (4 years ago) I am now having trouble with them syncing. It is telling me that I am out of storage because it is trying to sync items between our folders that have been moved and deleted over the past 4 years. It shows I'm still logged into DB on that old computer, but we can't access it to log out. Should I uninstall on this computer and try reinstalling, or do I delete access to the old computer although that is where the most up to date items are and then uninstall and reinstall and hope that it will all sync? I'm at a loss and don't' want to lose all this work.34Views0likes5CommentsMake sync work properly and stop telling me I reached my limit
Like the title says, make it work properly. in my local dropbox folder I have ~350MB of files. You keep telling me I've reached my limit and I will lose access to my files if **I** don't do something about it. So, here's the idea: you fix **your** sync problem and stop making it my problem. And while you're doing that, stop threatening me.133Views0likes1CommentDo shared folders take up space on all members?
I need to know that if I've shared an folder upload link with any person whom I need to get the files uploaded in the folder, when he/she will upload the files, will the storage be filled in their dropbox account or in mine account only? Can someone help me answer that?177Views0likes2CommentsI sent a shared link to my husband, but he gets an error that he doesn't have enough space.
I couldn't find a contact email and that Support chatbot was useless. I searched the Support pages and other parts of this Community Board and couldn't find an answer so posting here. I have a Professional Dropbox Subscription with 3TB; the current space I'm taking up is only 81.1GB. I've created a Shared folder (with Editing Access) as I backed up audio and photos for my husband to access (the files are uploaded to my account since I have a lot of space). He has a Basic Dropbox Account-when he clicks the Shared link, he keeps getting the following messages: not enough space 2.5GB Dropbox almost full, I guess to have him upgrade; or he gets a prompt to download the files-he just needs to view/listen to them not download. Can someone suggest a way for him to access the files without downloading or upgrading his account? I have more than enough space so he should be able to access the files-using my available space, right?179Views0likes1CommentGetting an error that I don't have enough free hard drive space when trying to sync new files
I’m trying to transfer my files from an external hard drive to my 3TB Dropbox plan. My sync settings are to be online only but when I attempt to add folders I get an error message saying I don’t have enough free space on my PC. Do you have to first use your HD space before making the files Online only? I hope not.161Views0likes1CommentI need to reduce the size of Dropbox on my computer, but I don't see any syncing icons.
I am working with Windows 11 and have drop box installed on two computers, a Microsoft surface and an ACER desktop. The Acer is very recent and has a hardrive capacity of 500 gigs which I thought more than sufficient but now I find that Photoshop requires MASSIVE AMOUNTS of storage for my photographs. In settings it indicates that 342 gigs are dropbox on the Acer HD. I need to reduce that. One of my first issues is that it is never clear to me what is on the local HD and what is in the cloud on Dropbox. When I research this, I see that there should be little symbols but the only ones I have indicate whether the file is shared. Because I have multiple plug in harddrives for music and photos I need greater clarity on this. Secondly, I have a feeling there is tremendous redundancy in my music library. I would like to get all the music off my desktop but is there a way, when uploading, to have dropbox not upload duplicates or does that require third party software. Lastly, I do not find dropbox intuitive, can anyone recommend tutorials that will help me. Part of my problem is that I use dropbox infrequently and thus have to relearn it .. and it is not easy. Thanks.513Views0likes7CommentsNew Option: Turn off space-wasting versions and "conflicts".
Yes, I know, if you can get people to waste mass tonnages of space, they can be more easily pressured to upgrade their account. Still, the versions, and especially the so-called conflicted files, are not only useless (as I do my own version control, thank you very none), but time consuming to repeatedly remove from the files retrieved via zip file downloaded from the website (because your support for Linux sucks, I have to sync manually).123Views0likes1Comment
