Storage space
1953 TopicsOnline only option isn't working on Mac OS
Hey all, I've recently had some trouble with Dropbox files taking up hundreds of GBs on my Mac's internal storage. When I select "Make file online-only," nothing happens. My Dropbox version is 219.4.4463, and my macOS version is Sonoma 14.6.1. I’d appreciate any help! Thanks.16Views0likes3CommentsNo space in Dropbox but I can't find any files or folders to delete
It is saying I have no more space in my Dropbox, but I can't find where there are any files or folders in there to delete so I can have space. I don't remember putting anything in there and how am I out of space if there's nothing in there?67Views0likes10CommentsError that I've run out of space when trying to open a folder shared with me
I have just tried to open a folder that has been shared with, and it automatically brings up the upgrade window, stating that I have run out of space. But according to the details in my account, I am only using 2.6M out of an available 2GB. The file is definitely no where near 2GB, but it won't let me get any further or view anything, beyond the upgrade account page.15Views0likes1CommentI'd like to sync my Dropbox files both on an internal and external drive.
Hello, Feature: the ability to sync Dropbox folders to two separate locations on the same device. Here’s my use case: The Problem I work on a laptop with limited internal storage, which makes it impossible to sync all my Dropbox files locally. I do use Selective Sync to only download the folders I need. However, I often find myself needing access to unsynced files. This creates a workflow which is fairly tedious: I have to search for the file via the Dropbox web interface, which neither quick or the easiest to navigate, especially when multiple versions of a file exist, and there's no previews. After downloading the file, I extract what I need (I’m works as a graphic designer, so this often means copying a single element). I then delete the file. This happens often enough, and it's not only tedious, but time-consuming too. What I’d love is the ability to sync Dropbox to two locations on the same device: Location 1: My laptop’s internal hard drive, with Selective Sync enabled. Location 2: An external hard drive that syncs all (or most) of my Dropbox content, acting as a complete backup. This would allow me to: Use my laptop’s internal drive for day-to-day work with the files I access frequently. Quickly retrieve any unsynced files from the external drive without needing to download them manually from the web interface. Avoid having to carry the external drive around all the time. I could keep it connected at home, and use the laptop’s synced folder when working elsewhere. I’ve tried to come up with alternatives to this to mimic it, like: Move the Dropbox folder entirely to an external drive. This frees up space on the laptop, but makes the external drive essential for any file access. Use two Dropbox accounts. One account could sync to my external drive, and another to my laptop. However, keeping them in sync requires additional tools or manual effort, which complicates things, and I'm not even sure it's possible either. Manually copy files between devices. This is, again, tedious and error-prone, especially for large or folders I work in often. Am I missing something obvious here, or is there a third-party tool or workaround that could achieve this setup or something close enough?107Views2likes3CommentsOnline-only not working in Surface Pro 11 (Snapdragon version)
Recently I went back to Dropbox having read that it now works with Snapdragon Windows versions, but currently I have a significant issue. I cannot have any online-only file in my SP11, thus I cannot have all Dropbox files in my device. I have this in the main DP screen: Then I go to "Manage hard disk space", select folders and make online-only. In less than a second I get the message they are online-only, but they aren't. Any idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance.404Views2likes18CommentsCan't upload material to a link from someone else's account?
I'm trying to upload 1.5tb of data to a link on someone else's account. They have expanded their data quota to allow for this much data, however the dropbox upload keeps failing at my end. the 1.5TB of data is a collection of raw video media (so it's several hundred thousand files within a series of folders) When I tried to upload this via Apple Safari, the upload repeatedly stopped. I was uploading by loading the URL for the upload link to my friend's dropbox account, and then either dragging & dropping the files onto the upload link or using the folder hierarchy to navigate through the folders to select the material from an external hard drive. I've tried swapping to using Google Chrome for the upload, and now the upload link is asking for my name & email address (as per image below). this link wasn't asking for this information on the Safari web page; why am I being asked to submit my name & email? I've tried putting in my name & email address on the google page Further, the google chrome link doesn't appear to be working either25Views0likes1CommentReferral bonus marked as ineligible for my son on new laptop

Hello, My account shows that it's out of storage, I have only 180MB in regular files and a 33GB backup, but I don't see it anywhere else than in the subscription page. Nothing on the backups page. i have mapped dropbox to my laptop and upgrading files constantly using file explorer, but it seems to 'eat' my c drive space, and thus would like to unmap it, but did not find a way, pls advice as in point 1 telling i upgrade files using my laptop file explorer to the dropbox, have done that several times, no issues for the other members to be able to see those files, until recently, uploaded again a few, took the file name from the properties, and informed the subfolder location to the other members, but this time they were not able to see those files i had earlier upgraded to dropbox, any idea why? check the file access etc info, all was ok23Views0likes1Commentout of space even after deleting files / folders
After deleting folders my storage space has not changed. This seems like a permanent issue on this forum and Dropbox appears to be intentionally making it hard to remove folders so people are forced to upgrade. Help? Why are you making it impossible for Dropbox users to delete files / folders and reduce storage use?Solved51Views0likes10Comments
