1528 TopicsI was invited to join a team, but I want to get my individual account back.
I had a personal subscription plan with 2 TB earlier, and one of my clients has added me to their Company DB account recently. This is my 2nd time that the Admin of that company has deleted my account from their and now I cannot get my old files since I have re-registered with my email (xxxxxxx@gamil.com) to try to get my files promptly. Now I have a brand new account with 2GB of space. I have already requested to add me to their company account again, then I can leave it by myself after restoring my files, hopefully. Could you guys please help me out to correct this issue and get my Files back with the previous account?198Views0likes22CommentsI renamed a folder of Paper docs and it got deleted after that. Why did this happen?
Hi A few days I renamed my 'Paper Docs' to '_Paper Docs' so it would appear listed as first folder in Dropbox. It worked without issue. However this morning when I tried to access my Paper files, they were all gone from both Dropbox and Paper web UIs. I have years of documentation and my song lyrics there. It's super important for me. Can anybody please help? Thansk36Views0likes5CommentsWhen Things Go Wrong: How to Restore Files with Dropbox
This thread ‘File corrupted and cannot be restored from the version history’ here on the Community got me thinking ... it reminded me of how important file recovery tools can be, especially when things go a bit sideways 😬. So I thought I’d put together a quick guide on how to restore files using Dropbox, just in case you ever find yourself in a similar situation 🛠️. We’ve all been there. You delete a file by mistake 🗑️ or maybe overwrite something important and suddenly you realise you need to get it back. The good news? When you’re using Dropbox, restoring files is straightforward ✅. Here’s how it works and what you need to know ⬇️ 🔍 Check your Deleted files If you have accidentally deleted something, start by checking the Deleted files page on Dropbox.com. You can find it in the left-hand sidebar once you’ve signed in. From there: Browse or search for the file or folder you want to recover Click on it and select Restore By default, Dropbox keeps deleted files for 30 days (or longer if you’re on a Business, Professional or team account with extended version history). So as long as you’re within that time frame, recovery is possible 🕒. 🕰️ Restoring earlier versions If you didn’t delete the file but made changes you regret, Dropbox can help with that too. We keep a version history of your files, so you can go back in time and restore a previous version. Here’s how: Open Dropbox.com and find the file Click the three dots beside it, then choose Version history Pick the version you want to bring back and click Restore This works really well for documents that get edited regularly 📝 – especially if you’re collaborating with others and need to undo changes. 📱💻 Using the mobile app or desktop While the web version gives you full control over file recovery, you can also use the Dropbox mobile app to view deleted files or earlier versions. It’s a bit more limited, but good for quick fixes on the go. On the desktop app, any restored file will sync back to your device automatically once you’ve completed the restore online – so there’s no need to manually re-download it 🔁. ❓ What if I still can’t find a file? If you’re still not seeing the file you need or you’re unsure when it was deleted, it’s worth checking with your team admin (if you’re on a team account), or you may be able to find your answer here on the Community 🤝. 💬 Got questions? Or maybe a story to share? Hey, if you’ve ever had one of those moments where Dropbox saved the day – whether it helped you recover a last-minute report, saved your college project 🎓, or just rescued a file you thought was gone for good … drop a comment below ⬇️. It’s always so cool to hear how these features are helping our Community members 💙.12Views2likes0CommentsMy files no longer show up on my Dropbox account on the site
Ok, it has been a while since I logged into dropbox. I mostly use the web version and no longer sync. When I login to the account I can't find many files which were previously there. I can see the folder but it is empty. I am looking for some help as one particular file is very important to me. Thank you!66Views0likes6CommentsMy Dropbox account has been deleted due to inactivity. Is it recoverable?
My account was deleted due to inactivity on January 15th, 2025. I received the warning emails but was concerned they were scam emails that were going around related to dropbox. Anyone have success restoring documents/accounts? I understand that after 12 mo activity they are auto deleted, but wondered if anyone has had success regardless. Thanks24Views0likes1CommentAll files in my Dropbox account were deleted back in March - can I recover them?
Hi, I am part of a very small association that uses a Dropbox Basic account for storing our files. Yesterday, we discovered that all our files were deleted, and only the empty root folder remains. Apparently, the files were deleted by the owner of the Dropbox on March 18, 2025, but he has no knowledge of deleting the files. We urgently need assistance with recovering our files as they contain many important documents for our association. Is there any way for us to recover these files? I have already: Checked the deleted files section (nothing there) Reviewed the events history and can see that all files were deleted on 18/03/2025 Read the FAQ articles without finding a solution Sincerely67Views0likes3CommentsAll my files have disappeared without any action on my part. How can I recover them?
Hello, I'm facing a very serious issue: all of my files have disappeared from my Dropbox account overnight, without me performing any deletion. I have already: Checked the deleted files section (nothing there) Reviewed the events history (no clear trace of mass deletion) Verified connected devices (no suspicious access) Contacted customer support, but received no real help Read all FAQ articles without finding a solution I am using a Dropbox Basic account, and I urgently need assistance to recover my data — or at the very least, a clear explanation of what happened. Please escalate this ticket to a Level 2 technician, or provide me with a concrete solution for restoration, as this is a critical situation for me. Has Dropbox changed how version history works recently? It used to be the case that if last saved a file one year ago opened it and saved a few versions today then realized I'd actually wanted to start a new file (and not overwrite the one-year-old file with what I was working on today) then I could roll back to the version of the file from one year ago But today when that happened to me, the only versions that I could see of the file were the several versions that I'd saved today. I did not see the last version from ~1 year ago. Thanks20Views0likes1CommentHow can I restore files from a locked state?
Hi all, Hoping someone may be able to shed some light on this one. I've been trying to access my companies old files in a Dropbox folder. The dropbox folder has since been emptied with no files in there anymore. I'm going over historical emails to our info@ email and it looks like there was an email about our account being permanently deleted because is was in a 'locked state past'. Anyone know if I can restore files after this 'locked state' ? What even is a 'locked state'? I'm praying it's possible to retore from here. THANK YOU!36Views0likes5Comments
