Is there a Upload widget that I can embed on my site?
Hello Dropbox and comminity!
I was wondering if there is a dropbox upload widget that I can embed to my site for users to upload files to a specific folder of mine? Sharing is not the only important thing for me you see, we need our visitors to upload their content to us. We would like to set the maximum file size per upload to 2gb. Is this possible with Dropbox today?
Thanks!
Joe
Not in Dropbox, no, but there are many third-party services that will allow others to upload files to your account. Whether or not they have a widget is something you would need to research.
SendtoDropbox http://sendtodropbox.com/
AirDropper https://airdropper.com/ *Supports files up to 300MB each.
Dropittome http://dropitto.me
Jot Form / Dropbox Forms http://www.jotform.com/dropbox/
Upload to Dropbox http://www.uploadtodropbox.com
Mover http://mover.io/ formerly MyBackUpBox
IFTTT http://www.ifttt.com
Attachemnts from gmail http://attachments.me/
Sanebox http://www.sanebox.com again from gmail
Otixo http://otixo.com
URL Droplet https://www.urldroplet.com
SideCloudLoad https://www.sidecloudload.com
Supply Drops http://supplydrops.comThis list is not exhaustive more may be listed in the Dropbox wiki http://www.dropboxwiki.com/. New services come and go each day.

Two really great improvements would be:
- Add custom fields to requests, or at leasta a Subject
- Allow embedding the request form into a website

Hi Alex, Dropbox doesn't offer an embeddable version (and I'm not aware of any such immediate plans), but I'll send this along as a feature request.

I've had to sign up for and pay $20 a month to use SendThisFile to use their file box functionality to get email and message field and to host it on my website.
https://help.sendthisfile.com/filebox-overview
It works very well and reliably, been using the free version for a few years. I just started paying to customise the looks so it fits in better with my website, even with that but it's not very customisable and still look a little dated on a modern website.
Also, they don't let you customise the contents of the email confirmation that the uploader receives, unless you're on their $100 a month enterprise plan :-O
Still, it works reliably which is the important thing.
Would be great if dropbox could create something like this and nail it by adding better customisation features and making it much more modern looking.
Some clients still send me dropbox links to their files, the ones who already have it installed, I've often found the dropbox download links aren't as fast as the send this file ones. So speed is pretty important too,

Hi Ed,
The file request tool looks great, but I need an embed version I can host on my website that's always live without having to send manual email requests to users.
I run a company where I require customers to upload their work to me and I need a solution I can leave embedded on an upload page on our companies website.
Ideally not somepage.dropbox, com like some other file transfer companies do.
Any idea if something like this is in the works?

Hi Joe,
we provide an embed code widget which you can copy & paste into the HTML code of your website to enable your website visitors to upload files directly into one of your Dropbox folders. If you are interested, you can check out http://developers.cloudwok.com or drop me an e-mail markus@cloudwok.com.
Best regards,

Thanks Gregory, it would also require some fields where the user could enter their email address (optionally say a phone number too) and a message along with the files to be sent across.
I'm currently using SendThisFile, which works well, but their embedable uploader is very dated looking now. Seems a shame to have to pay for two services when I'm already paying for so much storage with dropbox too.
