Verifying Access and trying to download AI files.
I'm trying to access .ai files in my dropbox which I had created and then "made offline only". Now when I try to download them and open them I just get "Verifying access to..." and it cycles 50+ time...

2 years agoHi cwdav, let's jump right into this!
Based on what you described about "offline only" it's safe to assume you're using the desktop app. Could you locate your Dropbox icon, on your menu or task bar, next to your WiFi, hover your mouse over the icon, and clarify the Dropbox version you're using?
Also, you mentioned offline only, but I believe you meant "online only" and you wish to make them available offline, is that so? What is the icon you see next to these files?
Keep me posted!

Thanks Megan,
It is Dropbox v167.4.4719
Sorry I'm probably using the wrong terminology.. After I finished the files I set them to "online only", then when I wanted to work on them again and tried opening them the cloud icon turned into a cardboard box icon.
Now I'm getting this error, but then eventually the file opens after 5-10 minutes:

The cardboard box icon isn't from Dropbox. It's from OneDrive. Do you have OneDrive and Dropbox syncing the same set of files? If so, this will cause nothing but problems.

Oh very interesting thanks Rich - I've never intentionally used OneDrive, but it's on my computer. I'll make sure it's not trying to auto-sync files.
This is the cardboard box I'm talking about for reference:- Walter2 years ago
