Viewing "Online only" file in Adobe Bridge
[ Spoiler ] When I view "Online only" files in Adobe Bridge, thay automatically become "Local" files, even if I don't open them. That's very annoying. Is there a way to prevent that? Thanks 🙂
- 7 years agoHi there, if a file is viewed in Adobe Bridge, then the file needs to be downloaded to the machine to view it.There wouldn’t be a way to prevent this, since it would stop the file from being viewed.

Thanks for your answer.
So, as I understand the situation, if I'm using Bridge in my workflow, I can't rely on Smart Sync to save HD space for me...
So I guess I don't need the Professional plan and can just subscribe to the Plus plan.

That’s up to you of course. If you do have other files that aren’t used by Adobe Bridge, then at least those can remain online-only and free up space on your device.

Thank you for your help :)

Bridge is functionally similar to a Finder window; you're saying here that merely viewing filenames or image thumbnails in a Bridge window causes a download? The same doesn't seem to be true of Finder...

Depends on what Bridge is trying to do with the file. Obviously it's trying to access the files in a way that is causing it to download and be marked as Local again. Why? You'd have to ask Adobe that.
