Copy files from icloud to dropbox
Hello all.
I have copied all my iCloud Files & Folders, via Finder, to Dropbox. They DO show up in Finder-->Dropbox. They do NOT show up on the web. All other files show up instantly but none of...

Hi tg2496
Are they actual files - did they download from iCloud first (i.e. they are not 0byte files) and THEN did you reupload to Dropbox? You cannot usually just drag/drop from iCloud to Dropbox folders

I went to Finder-->iCloud, then a Select All, then a Copy.
I then went to Finder-->Dropbox and did a Paste.
On the MAC, they all show up and they are not Zero Byte. Everything is there and correct. It took a while for them to Copy on the MAC, but it wasn't anything unusual.
So, it was all done via Finder.
Thanks.

Even if it was done via Finder that doesnt mean they are *actually* offline files. Dropbox and iCloud have features which show files as in Finder but never actually existing on the device
If you have no internet can you open them for example?
Then if you can what does Dropbox say if you mouse over its icon on the status bar?

Okay. I wasn't sure what you meant for me to do... however, I see some things that you made me look at more closely.
Even though they are showing up in Finder-->Dropbox and the data is there, it is only some of the data. It looks like PDF's possibly, no matter.
What I did do was a small experiment to see if the data can be copied in the same manner. It did not.
So, I guess I don't understand how I'm going to "backup" iCloud. Maybe I can't?
I was looking for an easy way but maybe I have to download the iCloud Files and then upload them. I can't say I quite understand how Dropbox works yet.
