- 2 years agoHi everybody,We’d like to provide an update on this topic:Keep in mind that you can completely hide the Recents section with the new modular home layout on mobile:1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.2. Tap the customize icon (artist palette) 🎨3. To add or remove a default section, tap the toggle next to Recents, Starred, Camera Uploads, 4. Viewed links, Shared, or Offline.5. Tap Save to save your changes. You can find more info in here. Also, based on your comments, our team is working on improving the recents list update (when an item is deleted remotely). Thank you for sharing your feedback on this. We'll keep you in the loop for future features related to this.Sam

Hi all, I completely agree with all the frustrations and have been voicing them myself on these discussion boards.
Please see below a link another thread to which a Dropboxer actually responded to complaints. You can view our exchange about the suggested changes to "Recents", improving the forum, and improving Help articles on their website:
There I also posted a temporary workaround to create a shortcut/widget that allows you to load directly into your chosen folder instead of Recents. While this does not solve the issue, it does bypass the Recents page so that you would only see Recents by specifically navigating to it.
Pasted below are the step-by-step instructions on how to create this shortcut which was sent to me as a reply from Dropbox support:
"Thank you for contacting Dropbox. My name is Anthony and I would be happy to assist you with changing the default screen that Dropbox opens to.
In our most recent update, Dropbox has changed what screen opens up by default.
When tapping the Dropbox icon, Dropbox will now open up to the Recents page first. This is working as intended, and cannot be modified by the user.
As a workaround, the Dropbox app offers the ability to create a home screen widget to any folder in your account, including the top-level Dropbox folder.
To create this shortcut:
- Tap and hold an empty spot on the home screen (phones) or tap the All Apps icon on the home screen (tablets)
- Tap “Widgets”
- Tap and hold the “Dropbox Folder” widget, drag it to the desired location on your home screen, and release.
- Upon releasing, you’ll be prompted to “Create shortcut to” the currently selected folder. If you wish to open a different folder, navigate to the preferred folder. Tapping the icon on the new widget will open up to the location that you choose in this step.
- Tap the “Create Shortcut” button.
You can now use this new Dropbox folder icon on your home screen to bypass the Recents view upon opening the Dropbox app.
Thank you for this feedback! We are always looking for user input when creating the next version of the Dropbox app and I will make sure your comments are passed along to our development team."
Again, this is only a workaround and does not solve the inherent issues we've all strongly complained about. While Dropbox has now updated their Help page since I've made the suggestions, they still have not posted the workaround, only sending it to people when they submit support tickets. Seemingly they are reluctant to acknowledge their mistake. Perhaps devs are powerless to address this very simple issue if the Recents "feature" is being championed by one of their execs.
