- 7 years agoHi Greg, as you’re on a Mac, you can check if a third-party application is causing this issue with the following steps:
- Save any files and quit ALL programs.
- Completely quit and close any third-party cloud service applications such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or others.
- Quit Dropbox:
- Relaunch Finder using the following steps:
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left of your screen
- Click on "force quit"
- Select Finder then click "Relaunch"
- Restart the Dropbox application.
If the issue is resolved at this point, it may be due to the third-party applications running on the computer. If the issue persists, or you see that a new application is causing issues please let me know.

I am also having this issue. However, it is on a machine solely dedicated to Dropbox. There are no other apps other than the system installed items. When I check activity monitor all that is running is Dropbox and OS related items. Please advise. It is MacOS Monterey 12.4 on an M1 Mac Mini

Hey Jeff Marks, sorry to see your syncing icons are missing from your Dropbox folder.
What is the sync status and version of the Dropbox app on your computer?
You can hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, to see this info.
Are you also missing context menu items (Dropbox right-click options) from the files in your Dropbox folder?

Files are up to date and running Dropbox on MacOS v166.4.2920

Thanks for this info, Jeff.
What about the context menu items, are they also missing?
And if you close the Dropbox app and then relaunch it from your Applications folder, do you see the same behavior?

Those come and go. Sometimes not there and sometimes gone, and sometimes if I leave the context menu open they will appear after a while.
