The Dropbox icon is missing and reinstalling didn't help much.
I am a very casual DB user, so user error is likely here. That said...
I am having a number of issues with DB so I started with a fresh uninstall/reinstall of DB, as that seemed to be the commo...

Hey DaveLeeNC, let's jump right into this!
When did you first notice this behavior? Also, is the app installed on the device with admin privileges?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

I noticed it first yesterday, but it probably happened much earlier than that as I don't normally have a need for the icon. I was logged in as admin when I did the reinstall, but that is all that I know about the app status. Thanks for the help.

Sure thing, Dave!
Take as much time as you need, and report back. Thanks!

I cannot do Step #1 because I don't have a DB icon. Which processes do I need to kill in Taskmanager or what else should I do here?

I am not sure that this is going well. The instructions refer to folders like "%LOCALAPPDATA" and "%PROGRAMFILES%", etc. The best that I can do is to find the AppData->Local under the (only) user that is relevant here. So I assume that is what is being referenced. There are no "DropBox" folders anywhere that I can find in either of the ProgramFiles folders. I did find a DropBoxUpdate folder. Should I just ignore those steps (8 and 9) and proceed? FWIW, I also did not find a DropBoxUpdate folder in the registry.
