I don't know if there's something wrong with me, but I genuinely don't know what to do. I'm not using Dropbox currently, so I deleted it from my computer (via Control Panel) and everything is fine. Except for the Dropbox folder/icon in Windows Explorer that I just can't get rid of. I uninstalled Dropbox completely and it's still there and I'm wondering is there a way to remove the icon as well? It's not a big deal and right now I'm more curious than anything to be honest. I've been using computers for almost 30 years and this is the first time when an icon beats me :P38Views0likes3CommentsMS Word no long "likes" documents stored on external Dropbox locations (Mac OS 10.15 Sequoia)
So I recently updated from 10.14 to 10.15, and everything looks good except for MS Word. I keep my Dropbox file on an external drive (formatted as Mac OS Extended Journaled), and whenever I try to edit and save a Word document to the Dropbox location, I get a dialog box with "Check to make sure the removable drive containing this file is still available." It then renames the file to a temporary file name (e.g. .~WRD1234) and then brings up the File Save As dialog box. The whole thing repeats if I try to give it a new name. I've reindexed my Dropbox folder, removed the MS word cache, etc. etc. I'm on client build v212.4.5767. I did not see this behaviour with previous versions of Mac OS, so I'm assuming something broke with the update. Anyone with any ideas?Solved54Views0likes9CommentsI get an error while starting Dropbox in Ubuntu 22.04.
Hi I have always used Dropbox on this version of Ubuntu and have never had any problems, but this time I do have errors when starting the service. I downloaded the .deb from their official website and installed it using apt. https://www.dropbox.com/install-linux?_tk=install_view sudo apt install ./dropbox_2020.03.04_amd64.deb After I rundropbox start -iand it shows thoses errors: gonzalesc@pucco-hp:~$ dropbox start -i Starting Dropbox...dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/cryptography.hazmat.bindings._openssl.abi3.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/cryptography.hazmat.bindings._padding.abi3.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/apex._apex.abi3.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/psutil._psutil_linux.cpython-38-x86_64-linux-gnu.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/psutil._psutil_posix.cpython-38-x86_64-linux-gnu.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/google._upb._message.cpython-38-x86_64-linux-gnu.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/tornado.speedups.cpython-38-x86_64-linux-gnu.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/wrapt._wrappers.cpython-38-x86_64-linux-gnu.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/PyQt5.QtCore.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/PyQt5.sip.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/PyQt5.QtGui.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/PyQt5.QtWidgets.so' dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gonzalesc/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-212.4.5767/PyQt5.QtDBus.so' Done! Then it sends me to Chrome to link the dropbox with my desktop and it seems to do that fine, but the Dropbox service never finishes initializing, it stays frozen in the "starting" state. Searching for information I followed these steps but the results were the same, that is, I got the same errors. https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall I have installed these packages: python3 v3.10.6 python3-gpg v1.16 equivs v2.3.1 PD: An unimportant fact but I mention it to give all the necessary information is that, when I installed the .deb, a Dropbox repository was added to my source-list but with an unverified key, so I had to verify it using a simple doc and the warning no longer appears when runningapt update.34Views0likes1CommentDropbox won't show me the option to make content "available offline".
have installed Dropbox on two MacBooks. On the first one, I can download folders and make them available offline. However, this isn't working on this MacBook Air. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox. Dropbox has full disk access on this laptop. What is going wrong, and how can I resolve this?258Views0likes6CommentsShould or should I not use a command to update Dropbox on Windows?
Hi guys, I found out something really strange concerning Dropbox builds. First of all, I have been autoupgraded to 212.4.5767 some time ago which I think is the latest standard, yet I don't seem to find out the Forum post on it. Yesterday I launched this command on Windows run box: winget upgrade --all It gave me a Dropbox update, but apparently it was a beta build like 213.3.x. I then needed to launch Dropboxinstaller.exe which I had in order to go back to 212.4.5767. What is the situation right now? Should I stop using winget for now or what else? Bye! I'm trying to understand why a file called "Dropbox" just appeared on my iMac desktop. It looks like a text file, but can't be opened. Clicking on it results in the following message: "Item Dropbox is used my MacOS and can't be opened." When I "get info" on the file, it's 780 bytes. I have been rearranging some dropbox files on this computer, and just installed Dropbox on another computer. Perhaps it's related to that. Don't know if it's relevant or not, but all my files are offline as well as online It appears to be a placeholder but I've been using Dropbox for years, and haven't seen this before. Any ideas are much appreciated. Marty12Views0likes1Comment
