Dropbox Integration with Zoom deprecated.
I discovered after the fact that Dropbox has decided to end its integration with Zoom. Apparently this ended on 5th February 2024. My last Zoom meeting 8 February 2024 did not upload to Dropbox automatically as usual which led me to investigate with both Zoom and Dropbox. I was just informed of the decision on Dropbox Chat. Apparently, I was supposed to have received an email but I can't find one and don't delete such things.
I was advised to report the issue/complaint here. The solution offered was download and Re-upload to Dropbox which I know will work (because I used to do that years ago) but when I have multiple Zoom Sessions in one Day and there isn't time between meetings to do this this is a lot of extra work for something that prior to this change was automatic. I wonder how many others are affected by this and are just as mystified as I am? I may have to consider other options to Dropbox though need to investigate these. Thanks.
Update 15th February 2024: Given the growing interest in this post and issues it is causing I have now put forward it's reinstatement here: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-ideas/Please-reinstate-integration-with-Zoom/idi-p/751519#M82875

Well, that explains why it wasn’t happening for me, either. Not a helpful decision by dropbox as far as I’m concerned.

I can imagine Rockeye and certainly from all the responses here it's been unhelpful to all those affected.

yep - I just spent an hour on the dropbox support chat trying to figure this out. Everyone I messaged with had NO idea about this and really tried to brush it off as a "non-issue" and when I finally found out what was happening in the forum here I let them know and still they took no responsibility saying they have no way of knowing what happens with 3rd party apps. When I tried to explain this is a management or administrative issue and that they should really be updated, I just got the same non-answers over and over again. I personally received no notice of this happening. Does management read these forums? How do we let Dropbox know how unhappy we are ? This is terrible customer service. I have had my dropbox account over a decade and very disappointed how this is being handled.

nsrubio that sounds even more incredible, at least the Agent I chatted with discovered the true picture within a few minutes. It sounds like your agent (s) had no idea it was Dropbox Decision Zoom Agent knew nothing about and as at yesterday it was still on their website. It might be fantasy but I'd rather hope Dropbox would take note of how upset and inconvenienced people are about this 'out of the blue' and mystifying decision. They (Dropbox) advised me to post here and I know a Dropbox Member of staff has responded to at least one post.
I notice there is another option to post "I have an idea" where we could post how about re-instating this facility. It looks like it operates on a voting system that Dropbox implement based on popularity and as days go by more and more people are finding this thread so maybe we could build some momentum there?- nsrubioHelpful | Level 6
ah yes, that is a good idea to post this idea !

There's a growing number of people who have been both surprised by and inconvenienced by the sudden ending of the Integration with Zoom. Many have spent hours trying to figure out what happened and equally see it as important to their individual or organisations work. It's clear that both Dropbox and Zoom Support Agents were not informed of the ending of the Integration and there was no email about it. I was informed it took place on 5th February 2024. This suggestion is to reinstate what was and clearly will be an important integration. As at today (15th February 2024) it is still showing as a key Integration on the Zoom Platform indicating those responsible for that Page are unaware of Dropbox's decision.
If you want this Integration reinstated then please like and support and add your views to this request. Thank you. Philip Wade

I would really like to have the Zoom-DropBox integration reinstated. It was a huge time-saver for my business. Thank you!

I would like Dropbox to reinstate the integration with zoom. As explained above , I also received no notice about this change and spent a good amount of time trying to figure it bout with customer support who also did not know or the change . This integration is crucial for my business and I have begun to rely on it.

My use of the Dropbox - Zoom Integration has been profoundly helpful in sharing the message of Self Realisation as Open Source and freely available (as much as practicable) with the world. It's used in many ways: One to One's on Zoom I can provide people with a private Dropbox Link to watch the session, Events people can watch either the unedited or later edited recordings or if in different time Zones catch-up with others, for edited clips and on and on. It's been "Life transforming" their words not mine. So having this integration available for years now has made that sharing so much easier, effective and less time consuming allowing more time to focus on people. It is for these reasons I'd like the facility reinstated. Thank you.

I just found out yesterday when I realized that my videos stopped uploading on February 8. The most frustrating thing about this is that it leaves us without an alternative solution and no time to find one. At the very least, Dropbox should have notified its paying customers one month in advance so we could find a way around this that didn't take us back to 2020 when the process was manual. I'll be anxious to hear from Dropbox on this.

Thanks for putting this forward. I have only discovered it now after removing the Zoom app to reset integration. Zoom app no longer appears in search function.
I use this all the time and is imperative to my workflow. I too do not recall any email informing me of this change. - jefamularcanoExplorer | Level 4
I never received any email about this and I had to investigate myself with recordings not being sent to the folder I need them in.
I have 5 meetings a day and rely on this integration for tracking my meetings and having recordings available for Otter.
If this is the case, then I would have to investigate something outside of Dropbox for saving these meetings. - Kathryn JonesHelpful | Level 6Please reinstate this integration. It is imperative to my workflow. Our organisation works across many countries and this integration make sharing content very easy and streamline.

This is the main reason we switched from Box to Dropbox. My team records hundreds of Zoom calls each week and absolutely need this feature.
- skmartin108Helpful | Level 6
I'm curious why you switched. I just reached out to Box yesterday and it sounds like they can do the same Zoom integration as Dropbox was offering.
- Enzo-GarzaNew member | Level 2
The automatic Zoom -> Box feature was not supported at the time, which may have changed since I've left.
I also needed to be able to give parent folder access to my team and not have permissions automatically affect other folders when adjusting subfolder permissions. This was impossible since Box uses a waterfall method that flows up and down.
For Example
Main Folder - All of my team has access to this folder
- Sub Folder A - same
- Sub Folder B - same
- Sub Folder C - I want to limit access to this folder
When using Box.com, if I removed access to Sub Folder C, it would remove the user from Sub Folder A and B as well, which was really silly. I reached out to customer support and there was nothing I could do to change this.
From Box.com:
If an individual is a collaborator on a parent folder, the access level is the same for all its subfolders. Changing the access level for any subfolder causes the individual's access level also to change for the parent folder and all its subfolders.
So, while the Zoom integration was very important to me, the sharing capabilities was also something that ultimately made me switch.

Hey Everyone,
This depracation is very unfortunate. I hope it is resolved. In the meantime, zapier does have a simple integration to sync zoom meetings to dropbox.
If anyone wants help on this, let me know!- skmartin108Helpful | Level 6
Is it free or do you have to purchase one of the plans?
