Dropbox Integration with Zoom deprecated.
I discovered after the fact that Dropbox has decided to end its integration with Zoom. Apparently this ended on 5th February 2024. My last Zoom meeting 8 February 2024 did not upload to Dropbox automatically as usual which led me to investigate with both Zoom and Dropbox. I was just informed of the decision on Dropbox Chat. Apparently, I was supposed to have received an email but I can't find one and don't delete such things.
I was advised to report the issue/complaint here. The solution offered was download and Re-upload to Dropbox which I know will work (because I used to do that years ago) but when I have multiple Zoom Sessions in one Day and there isn't time between meetings to do this this is a lot of extra work for something that prior to this change was automatic. I wonder how many others are affected by this and are just as mystified as I am? I may have to consider other options to Dropbox though need to investigate these. Thanks.
Update 15th February 2024: Given the growing interest in this post and issues it is causing I have now put forward it's reinstatement here: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-ideas/Please-reinstate-integration-with-Zoom/idi-p/751519#M82875

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your feedback regarding this.
The Zoom integration within Dropbox is active and working normally for all users.
If you’re having any issues accessing your Zoom recordings or the feature, let us know and we’re happy to help.
Thank you,
Sam

Thanks for sharing this Mark. I checked my emails and there is no such email. I find the decision bizarre to say the least. I am beginning to investigate alternatives but perhaps if there's plenty more here Dropbox might be persuaded to re-consider.

I am not familiar with those but thank you for the suggestion bblu2095.

Dropbox has apparently ended the Zoom integration as of Feb 5th.

Rich thanks for sharing my thread with Chriskynka. The information shared above was direct from Dropbox support after they went away and checked. It wasn't something the agent knew immediately. Zoom Agents appeared equally unaware of this until I informed them!
- JayDropbox Staff
Hi Chriskynka, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you clarify how you were linking Zoom and Dropbox together?
Was this via the Zoom app itself, saving recording in the Dropbox folder, or another method?
This will help me to assist further!

So it appears Jay you as a Dropbox Staff member were unaware of the ending of the Integration in the same way that Tim the support agent was. I trust you are passing all this information back to whomever makes these decisions at Dropbox. I would guess what we are seeing here is the tip of the Iceberg in terms of people inconvenienced by this. The Zoom Support Staff were equally unaware until I told them.

A bit further information on this. This is a key extract from the Chat with Dropbox that revealed what had transpired. It should be stated that the Support Agent wasn't immediately aware of this and had to pause for a couple of minutes or so and was given this response to share with me:
"After careful consideration and evaluation, the Zoom integration within Dropbox is being deprecated. This means that the Zoom integration will no longer be available to our customers, effective 05/02/2024.
We understand that this integration has been valuable to many of our users, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, we believe that focusing our efforts on other features and integrations will allow us to provide an even better experience for our users.
We're always looking for ways to improve Dropbox. We regularly release new versions of our products with better performance, additional features, and security enhancements."
How this represents an improvement is beyond me. It's a bit like saying we want you to use Dropbox to store your important documents but we're actually going to make it harder and more time consuming for you to do so!
Bizarre. - marosnerNew member | Level 2
This just happened to me too! There wasn't any heads up and is a key part of our organization's current workflow.
@Zoom – what's going on here?
- Philip WadeCollaborator | Level 9
marosner it's a decision taken by Dropbox not Zoom. They were unaware of it and it's still showing on their Website as a featured integration.

yep - I just spent an hour on the dropbox support chat trying to figure this out. Everyone I messaged with had NO idea about this and really tried to brush it off as a "non-issue" and when I finally found out what was happening in the forum here I let them know and still they took no responsibility saying they have no way of knowing what happens with 3rd party apps. When I tried to explain this is a management or administrative issue and that they should really be updated, I just got the same non-answers over and over again. I personally received no notice of this happening. Does management read these forums? How do we let Dropbox know how unhappy we are ? This is terrible customer service. I have had my dropbox account over a decade and very disappointed how this is being handled.

nsrubio that sounds even more incredible, at least the Agent I chatted with discovered the true picture within a few minutes. It sounds like your agent (s) had no idea it was Dropbox Decision Zoom Agent knew nothing about and as at yesterday it was still on their website. It might be fantasy but I'd rather hope Dropbox would take note of how upset and inconvenienced people are about this 'out of the blue' and mystifying decision. They (Dropbox) advised me to post here and I know a Dropbox Member of staff has responded to at least one post.
I notice there is another option to post "I have an idea" where we could post how about re-instating this facility. It looks like it operates on a voting system that Dropbox implement based on popularity and as days go by more and more people are finding this thread so maybe we could build some momentum there?- nsrubioHelpful | Level 6
ah yes, that is a good idea to post this idea !
- Philip WadeCollaborator | Level 9
Please see the New Idea Thread Post here and support this thread with likes and comments (not more new idea posts as I am advised that would not work. It looks to work on some kind of voting system. Everyone who has commented here has been tagged in the New Idea Post. Thank you Philip Wade.

I never received any email about this and I had to investigate myself with recordings not being sent to the folder I need them in.
I have 5 meetings a day and rely on this integration for tracking my meetings and having recordings available for Otter.
If this is the case, then I would have to investigate something outside of Dropbox for saving these meetings. - Kathryn JonesHelpful | Level 6Please reinstate this integration. It is imperative to my workflow. Our organisation works across many countries and this integration make sharing content very easy and streamline.

This is the main reason we switched from Box to Dropbox. My team records hundreds of Zoom calls each week and absolutely need this feature.
- skmartin108Helpful | Level 6
I'm curious why you switched. I just reached out to Box yesterday and it sounds like they can do the same Zoom integration as Dropbox was offering.
- Enzo-GarzaNew member | Level 2
The automatic Zoom -> Box feature was not supported at the time, which may have changed since I've left.
I also needed to be able to give parent folder access to my team and not have permissions automatically affect other folders when adjusting subfolder permissions. This was impossible since Box uses a waterfall method that flows up and down.
For Example
Main Folder - All of my team has access to this folder
- Sub Folder A - same
- Sub Folder B - same
- Sub Folder C - I want to limit access to this folder
When using Box.com, if I removed access to Sub Folder C, it would remove the user from Sub Folder A and B as well, which was really silly. I reached out to customer support and there was nothing I could do to change this.
From Box.com:
If an individual is a collaborator on a parent folder, the access level is the same for all its subfolders. Changing the access level for any subfolder causes the individual's access level also to change for the parent folder and all its subfolders.
So, while the Zoom integration was very important to me, the sharing capabilities was also something that ultimately made me switch.
