Someone using my Dropbox?

I received an email assigning me a badge as a top contributor and the next day received an email with a badge as a new contributor. I have not used Dropbox in over 5 years. I cannot use any of the help because I don't have a plan. Of course I can change the email on my account but how do I stop Dropbox from sending me messages?

I don't use dropbox for community chat - never have. I want it for file storage, thanks, I have enough communities to deal with. Now suddenly I'm getting increasingly higher badges and even a like!! This new feature so looked like a scam I had to come on here to find out what's going on. I'm disabling this thing and getting out of here

Hi guys, I read this topic and would like to thank Chris for his response.

It's effectively much time I don't post here but I actually use Dropbox software for syncing matherial. Anyway, I started receiving these mails, at first my gmail account marked these as spam and I authorized them thinking they where authentic, but now I am getting these kind of messages quite often. I'll think about disabling that setting...

    Bye!

  • also i might add that Dropbox has made some changes to the Community and thus has created new badges for all the times one has been with Dropbox.  I myself has received over 15 emails in one day.

  • in the email that Dropbox sent you, you would have noticed there is a unsubscribe or manage notifications settings.  All you need to do is click on that and adjust settings. or unsubscribe

    I hope this helps

I understand how frustrating that can be! To stop Dropbox from sending you messages, you can adjust your email notification settings. Here’s how:

Log in to Dropbox: Go to dropbox.com and log in to your account.
Access Settings: Click on your avatar at the top right corner of the page and select "Settings".
Navigate to Notifications: In the Settings menu, click on "Notifications".
Unsubscribe: Uncheck the boxes next to the types of notifications you no longer wish to receive. You can also click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email you receive from Dropbox to stop receiving that type of notification1.

If you continue to receive messages after making these changes, you might want to double-check that you've saved your settings and consider reaching out to Dropbox support for further assistance.
