We are aware of the issue with the badge emails resending to everyone, we apologise for the inconvenience
Hi everyone,
We are aware of the issue with the badge emails resending to everyone. We are very sorry for this, as many of you are aware we’re in the process of migrating the site and unfortunately that re-triggered the badge emails. We totally understand your frustration, but we want to reassure you that we are working on turning them off.
Just to clarify, this website is hosted on a community platform to allow us to connect with you, so this is not directly connected to your Dropbox account. This is frustrating, but we want to assure you that there has not been a breach, and our security protocols are still in place.
We are sorry for this inconvenience and confusion, and we hope you can bear with us while we work on this. Our intention was only to improve the Dropbox Community forum, and we are hoping that our technical glitch won’t deter you from being part of the Community with us.
Your Community team.
Hi everyone,
I’m Sheena, the Community Developer. Now that the emails have stopped, I wanted to share more details about what happened. As you’ve noticed, we underwent a major community upgrade this week, featuring a completely new UI and backend.
During the migration, badges were accidentally removed and then re-added, which caused everyone who had ever earned a badge to receive it again, triggering an email notification.
We disabled the email notifications as quickly as possible, but due to the high volume of emails already queued in the system, which could not be cleared by us, many were sent out regardless. This is why you may have received an email even after turning off email notifications in your settings or hours after the initial event.
The email queue is now clear, and we’re about to reactivate email notifications. From now on, you should only receive the normal volume of emails for actions relevant to you, such as if someone likes your comment or replies to your post. Remember, you can always update your notification settings by clicking here.
We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. Please know that this was an honest mistake, and our goal is always to support and engage with you ❤️

And what is it with these badges anyway? Isn't this a professional forum for a professional tool? I feel like I'm being treated like a 10 year old. This isn't a social media platform.

Glad you are "aware" of the problem, now please fix it! it has been many days of this. Additionally, Dropbox has made it very difficult to unsubscribe, which is illegal. Hitting the "unsubscribe" link just takes you to a login page requiring a password. Logging in then drops you into an area that has no ability to unsubscribe. Hunting around and searching for unsubscribe yields nothing useful. Nice job, as usual.
For those interested in unsubscribing, I was able to do it from my dropbox app on my mac, not the web. Click on the account button (your initials), then preferences, then notifications, then de-select everything you don't want.
Yet another unhappy, but unsurprised DropBox user.

Same here, 2 at 7 PM and 1 at 11 PM. I got the badges in 2023, and now got them yesterday again. I was also required to allow my Dropbox account to be used in Dropbox Community. Except I used it last year.

Like everyone else Amy, I suddenly started receiving messages with the subject "You have earned a new badge in The Dropbox Community!" yesterday. By this morning, I had received 7 of them.
I logged into my account and set the notifications for "I earn a new badge" to "Never":

Despite turning off this notification, I just received another message about a new badge!
I don't want to turn off notifications as I do want to receive them if someone comments on a topic I start post of mine. However, if this is going to continue, I will have to turn them off!
Please fix ASAP!
Thanks,
John
