We are aware of the issue with the badge emails resending to everyone, we apologise for the inconvenience
Hi everyone,
We are aware of the issue with the badge emails resending to everyone. We are very sorry for this, as many of you are aware we’re in the process of migrating the site and unfortunately that re-triggered the badge emails. We totally understand your frustration, but we want to reassure you that we are working on turning them off.
Just to clarify, this website is hosted on a community platform to allow us to connect with you, so this is not directly connected to your Dropbox account. This is frustrating, but we want to assure you that there has not been a breach, and our security protocols are still in place.
We are sorry for this inconvenience and confusion, and we hope you can bear with us while we work on this. Our intention was only to improve the Dropbox Community forum, and we are hoping that our technical glitch won’t deter you from being part of the Community with us.
Your Community team.
Hi everyone,
I’m Sheena, the Community Developer. Now that the emails have stopped, I wanted to share more details about what happened. As you’ve noticed, we underwent a major community upgrade this week, featuring a completely new UI and backend.
During the migration, badges were accidentally removed and then re-added, which caused everyone who had ever earned a badge to receive it again, triggering an email notification.
We disabled the email notifications as quickly as possible, but due to the high volume of emails already queued in the system, which could not be cleared by us, many were sent out regardless. This is why you may have received an email even after turning off email notifications in your settings or hours after the initial event.
The email queue is now clear, and we’re about to reactivate email notifications. From now on, you should only receive the normal volume of emails for actions relevant to you, such as if someone likes your comment or replies to your post. Remember, you can always update your notification settings by clicking here.
We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. Please know that this was an honest mistake, and our goal is always to support and engage with you ❤️

It's so sad to see Dropbox go down the drain due to incompetence. It all started with the amateurish acquisition and implementation of Boxcryptor. And now someone has apparently decided to annoy all (former) users by spamming them with notification emails...

Es wäre schön, wenn mal jemand von Dropbox sich äußert. Es ist doch nicht normal, dass solche Massenmails Spams versendet werden.

Where are the settings to unsubscribe from useless "You've earned a new badge" type of notifications? This is basically a technical support forum, you're not Facebook or Instagram, it doesn't need those useless features.
Think of it this way: I come here if I was having problems with Dropbox... and your constant emails that I can't turn off simply remind me of the problems I'd had with Dropbox in the past. Thanks for the reminder ;-) - Kamil D.New member | Level 1
Amy can you do something with this? You spam people. Badges don't even work correctly. I have 9 years and I only got 4 ... btw. why? I don't need this stupid badges.

Thank you for explaining. I didn't even know this existed and thought it was a phishing hack.

It's "phishing"
And this forum wants to access my other "apps"... on a PC web browser!! How incompetent are these developers?? Are they that narrow minded that they only understand phone apps???

In the end can we all get a new badge like "Received N badge notifications in a day", please? :)

I have now received 18 stupid "badge notifications" in the last 2 days. Stop this crap. Unless you are totally incompetent, you should be able to turn these off immediately. there is no excuse for this. **bleep**. Get it together. 😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬

One more **bleep**ing email and I’ll cancel my Dropbox account

I am having a similar issue. I have not been active in the forum, or been using DropBox for many many many years.
But on my email I received the following messages.
- 22 hrs ago: Due to your contributions in The Dropbox Community, you have earned a new badge!

Has the dropbox security been compromised ?
I have no idea how to get rid of that DropBox Community Account that I apparently have
Please advice how to get rid of the account I apparently (Dropbox is emailing me) still have.
Thanks!
