Apple Vision Pro Support with Dropbox.
Support Apple Vision Pro
- Mike_CFExplorer | Level 4
Why is this not figured out yet? It seems to me that simply making the iOS version of the app would go a LONG way toward keeping us in the ecosystem. While you "investigate" whether to support it, companies like mine are "investigating" Box's new AVP specific app, and deciding whether to switch.
I've used Dropbox for a long time and while I never expected an app-specific device for a first-gen product, I never expected Dropbox to simply opt out entirely.

It’s sad that the DropBox team can’t get their act together and for now at least simply flip the switch and allow the iOS app work on the AVP. They really are trying to alienate current bleeding edge customers.

Please fully support Dropbox on the Apple Vision Pro. I got the 1TB version of the Vision Pro because I want to sync all my data and store it on the device. Now I cannot store any Dropbox data at the moment on the Vision Pro.

FYI - I posted a question in the help chat... I doubt it has any impact, but doing my part to encourage the Dropbox team...

Chat transcript:
( 14:20:01 ) Visitor: Will there be dropbox for Vision Pro?
( 14:21:24 ) Kevin: Hello Ken, and thank you for contacting Dropbox support. My name is Kevin, and I will be more than happy to assist you with your integration issue, right away.
( 14:21:46 ) Kevin: Just to clarify, you need to know if Dropbox will have a Vision Pro integration, is that correct?
( 14:23:16 ) Visitor: An app for vision pro
( 14:24:01 ) Visitor: I think that all the dropbox developers need to do is to just say that it is ok for the ipad app to run on the vision pro
( 14:24:23 ) Kevin: Thank you for clarifying.
( 14:24:37 ) Visitor: currently, dropbox users, such as myself, have no way to use dropbox with our vision pro
( 14:26:53 ) Kevin: I understand. Currently this feature is not available so the process of saving content from Vision Pro to Dropbox is manual. I can take your feedback formally and pass along to the developer team in order to be added in the future. Would you like that?
( 14:28:52 ) Visitor: Yes
( 14:29:28 ) Visitor: I am Ken Williams, xxx@xxxxxx.com .. and I would be happy to be a beta tester. I am very technical
( 14:29:53 ) Kevin: Of course Ken. I will let the team know of that. Thank you for sharing.
( 14:30:08 ) Visitor: OK .. thank you .. bye
( 14:30:11 ) Kevin: You are welcome. - allomerzNew member | Level 2
Please enable Dropbox on VisionOS. Not allowing Dropbox to run on the Apple Vision Pro doesn't just affect ordinary file transfer, it also blocks other apps that depend on Dropbox for syncing from operating properly. The Scrivener app for Literature-and-Latte, for instance, runs on AVP, but requires Dropbox for syncing with MacOS and iOS. Without Dropbox, it only runs locally, which makes it useless for larger projects.
Thank you.

Solution found: I just switched all of my data over to iCloud. It's been nice, Dropbox! Great service. Not sure why you took this approach (a simple explanation would have been nice) to AVP but I'm moving on and won't be renewing.

I’ve been a dropbox customer for a very long time, and it’s super disappointing to not be able to use it with my new hardware

You don't need to review anything. You just need to stop explicitly blocking your iPad app from running on Vision Pro.
I have been a paying subscriber for nearly 20 years because I can access my files from anywhere as that has been your entire marketing message and value proposition. Now, you arbitrarily block a new platform that is perfectly compatible with what you already have so you can try to pass judgement on if your customers have some reason to want access to their data.
I have zero reason to continue paying for my enterprise Dropbox account if this is how you treat your customers. Never really loved Box, but they certainly don't seem to treat their paying customers this way. - dazzajiHelpful | Level 6
Over three weeks ago some user named "jstdbx Dropbox Product Manager" asked why users want Dropbox on Apple Vision Pro and I was the first to reply with a bunch of use cases but overall just focused on one action they should take, namely: just stop blocking the existing iPad app for AVP. At the same time, some user named "Megan Dropbox Staff" added a comment/notification to this thread that "The Dropbox team is currently reviewing this idea. We will share any updates with you. Status changed to: Investigating". Now we have three pages of users pouring out everything from polite detailed requests to angry demands to "why I have now left Dropbox" types of messages, all pleading for your to stop blocking your iPad app for use on the AVP, but we don't have one thing: Where is the update or any reply whatsoever from Dropbox?
Hey, "jstdbx Dropbox Product Manager" or "Megan Dropbox Staff" are you out there? Are you reading any of this? Is ANYBODY at Dropbox monitoring this?! Will somebody please 1) just stop blocking the existing iPad app for AVP, or failing that 2) PLEASE JUMP IN THIS THREAD WITH A MEANINGFUL SUBSTANTIVE UPDATE?

Please get this done ASAP. AVP is now the most important device I use for productivity
