You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
Will Dropbox Paper for web consider support offline mode for Dropbox Web just like google docs in the future?
- lukeyoSuper UserHi Hermann I agree Paper is great. And it's in the process of being updated so that Paper files live inside of your dropbox folder. (currently only some people have this functionality) FWIW I don't think they're trying to lock us into something, it's probably more a case of the collaborative technologies being complex to implement locally.
- Remco D.Helpful | Level 6I didn't know that Lukeyo! That is really awesome news. Can't wait to have this enabled. This is basically the main gripe I have with Paper.

Hi! Any news for PC?
I'm completely aware of the power of Dropbox Paper and it's potential. The thing is there are notes that are more complex and you need to take them in your PC, but if there is no internet you'll still need to take that note. Please, let us have Paper as the best option even for offline notes taking. Who wants to use notepad after knowing what Paper does.

Not having offline mode is one of the big deal breakers for using Dropbox Paper.
I can't recommend my company to use a service like Dropbox Paper knowing that even minor internet hickups could distrupt the work and make it come to a complete halt.
I have seen some moderators on this board suggesting that affected users could continue working on mobile since the apps support offline mode – but that is not a viable option when hundreds in a company might be affected.
Dropbox Paper is not suited for professional work unless offline mode is implemented, and I really hope it's coming in a near future. Keep up the otherwise good work. Dropbox Paper is great to use when it works.

- ptewariNew member | Level 2+1 +1 +1 I need to open the dropbox paper documents when I am in a plane, or a place where there is no internet. This inability is prohibiting me to read my important documents when I need them most (in fields with no internet). I am not sure why would you release offline version on iphone and android but not on PC and mac (and linux). Can't you just open the app using the project catalyst?

I was thinking: “This is going to be my go-to note and task management app” until my Internet connection got cut out, which happens quite randomly.
Anyway, Paper is such a pleasure to look at that I can't give up on it.

Hoping this idea is being worked on. Offering offline functionality has speed benefits too:
With google docs, it seems to sync a bunch of files offline - so when I open them in the web app they open a lot faster than Dropbox paper. When my internet is slow, paper takes some time to open files as it first connects, downloads, then displays. Docs just displays them, and updates them later once it connects to the internet.

Definitely need this. Because I experience few times that the network is not stable in the Caltrain and the paper is not able to use.

Upvoting this since it is really important to me.
I was working on a document a few minutes ago on the desktop app and it just lost my conection (it says no dropobox account found - even tough my internet connection is fine). I'm really losing time with it.
Please make the desktop app work with offline files!
