Option to create or edit plain Text or Markdown documents
I would have thought that the ability to create/edit plain text (*.txt) documents is extremely basic, and something that would be very useful for note taking, documenting the content of a folder and many more things. However this seems to be not supperted either in the Android or the Web app.
Something that has become a standard on many cloud-based sites is to also support Markdown documents (*.md) which are like text documents but can be viewed in a formatted nice way. This is also not supported but would be extremely useful to have in the Android and Web apps.

This is one of the things that are driving me crazy about Dropbox: the way how the web interface and apps on different devices differ from each other.
In the web GUI, the only files that can be created from the UI are Word or Google (but Google not even being directly supported in Dropbox storage any more). In Android it is only Text file or upload.
[Markdown is not getting rendered correctly when viewing although it is by now an extremely common and convenient way to create formatted documents which can be shared easily between platforms. ]
