Saving Paper docs to existing Dropbox folder structure/file-system.
Hi
A number of us have started using dropbox paper at work. We want to save documents that we create in paper to an existing Team folder but I can't see how to do this. Any ideas anyone?

Me too! I was a huge Hackpad fan and now wanted to move to Notes for using with a team used to Dropbox rather than Google Drive. I just assumed I could save it to a dropbox folder! Please add this feature soon. Thanks :-)

Just tried Paper first time today, pretty cool function and rather needed from a competitive view.
Rather quickly though, I realized that I would have wanted to have the Paper directly connected to a shared/specific folder, and preferably even as a "visible document" in that actual folder. Perhaps I missed something, because I couldn't find any way to connect the two. Paper seemed to have only it's own set of folders, separated from the original ones.
My humble two cents and a cup of tea.

I just posted the same comment above before reading this. I agree completely.
A temporary work around is to create .webloc files and organize them through that.
Not great but works if you have alot of paper docs.

Paper really does need a linking function for folders or individual files. Even something clustered together in a special application folder would be helpful.
I am a heavy Evernote users and this would be similar to the attachments Evernote supports, only provide would also have direct access to the linked folder / document in addition to via the note.

Paper is a beautiful application. Compliments to the UI folks. However, without the ability to store Paper files in my Dropbox folders, it is unfortunately of little value to me.

The folder system in paper is very cumbersome.
It would be great if paper docs could be shared and organized like regular files in dropbox.
Sure you can create .webloc files and organize them within your file system, but i'd love it if the Paper folder system showed up as regular files and folders within Dropbox so I could modify, create new folders and move the files around easily.

It'd be so useful if we could open/edit/preview Dropbox-specific files (that are document or PDF files) automatically in Dropbox Paper when we click to open it from Dropbox! I think it'd be a step closer to making Dropbox into a collaborative productivity suite!

I agree, that would be vary handy!

Any news?
Intended use:
Encrypt notes with boxcryptor and edit notes with paper locally on multiple platforms.
- TjompaExplorer | Level 3Same as everyone else. Took the integration for granted an now it seems that Paper is useless as a stand alone app.
Looking forward to an update making it possible to have Paper inside the Dropbox hierarchy. Until then it's back to Evernote for both me and the teams I handle.- Luc V.2Helpful | Level 5
Storing Papers in dropbox folders is so obvious and should have been in the design center from the start.
You just lost another enthousiast.

- BethNew member | Level 2Same as what everyone is saying, so obvious, not being able to save it in our existing dropbox filing system makes it useless and we were excited to have a platform that we could all work at the same time. No "so and so is making changes","accept so and so changes" but you can't make changes until you do... Anyway, most importantly, when will this be added to Paper? Any rough timelines? Would like to know if I need to forget about Paper until next busy season. Thanks!

Hello everybody,
Thank you for providing all this feedback about Paper, we really appreciate it. Our team is working hard to improve our products and Paper getting out of beta and going public is the first step. Any new features will be announced and we are looking forward to the future with this!
To share your Paper feedback directly with us while using Paper , you can click on the "?" icon on the lower right corner and click on "Feedback". From that link you can submit your ideas and general Paper related feedback.
Thank you.
PS: Hey Liz, I renamed your topic's subject to : "FR: Saving dropbox paper to existing Dropbox team folder" . FR = Feature Request, thanks!
- lynneluvahHelpful | Level 5Like everyone else I really don't understand the point of paper being separate from Dropbox. Been a pro user of Dropbox for a while now sharing project folders with clients and was happy to see paper notes as a means to organize activities and items within existing folders. I invited a client to a paper folder to look at action items and then had to invite them to a separate Dropbox folder to upload files listed in the action items. They were very confused. Plus it's too much work to ask a client to do this. I just could've used slack to manage this project instead. I'm really rooting for you Dropbox and hoping that you make this make sense. Seems it would've been obvious to integrate the services.

This is a great idea. I think Paper docs also could be implemented as the separate folder on Dropbox.com.
Like we already have "Camera Uploads" folder, it would be awesome if new docs I'm creating will appear on the "Paper" folder. But then I can move them between any other folders within personal or team account.
Maybe something like this:
Thanks!

Dovhyi,
why seperate folder ?
imo it is better to leave the organisation of folder to the user, not the 'system'.
The only good way is to introduce a 'paper' extension, and mix paper-files with other files at locations choosen by user.
No?

Totally agree. Why paper isn't integrated directly into current Dropbox folders is baffling. Much too confusing for larger companies to ask employees to jump back-and-forth between team folder full of files and then into a separate interface for Paper docs.
We'll keep using txt and rtf files for now until this gets updated. Please don't force us back to G Drive :(

It's definitely a sad design and marketing choice not to be able to add your Paper documents inside your Dropbox file system.
The community has been consistently agreeing on this.
@Zed since you seem to be the company's voice in this discussion, I would like to address a couple of questions to you:
1. You invited the community several times to use the lower right Feedback button on Paper to share feedbacks, but this would be a solitary, unarchived method which would exclude the well functioning community driven hierarchy on topics. don't you agree that the forum is just a more efficient place for it?
2. You picked dovhyi's individual suggestion after many users agreed on the urgency of a simple Paper integration on Dropbox folder. Would you be able to give a specific feedback on this shared issue?
Finally, just an idea for a simple, first integration:
I would also just be happy to see my Paper document link inside the dropbox file system and when I click on it, that the browser would open the document in a new tab in the Paper environment.
Paper is a great product and integrated with Dropbox it would just make this whole system very competitive, i'm also willing to move from Gdrive.
- GreenalexHelpful | Level 5I am also willing to move from G Drive if they can integrate paper into existing Dropbox folder tree
