You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
currently, for some bizarre reason, if a user uploads, a video to dropbox, the thumbnail attached to the video becomes a random screen frame approximately eight seconds into the video, rather than the first image of the video. Thus, if you make a video and wish to share it with others from your dropbox, the thumbnail that attaches to it will be some random unintended thumbnail. This is sub optimal programming, and dropbox says that they will correct it if enough users request it. please vote to make the thumbnail assigned as the first frame of an uploaded video.

This is a huge problem. Every client that views a link for a video asks to change the thumbnail, as they think it'll be like that for every platform the send it to.

This would be immensely helpful, especially as I use Dropbox links to share videos for work. It would help my work look way more professional. Even if there were an option to upload a photo to attach as a thumbnail, that would look so much neater. Many thanks for reading.

I'm sure that many videos start with a fade-in so the first frame would be black. But for any that doesn't, the first frame might be a better choice than the 8-second frame. Could the first frame be added as an option if it's too complicated to add a way to select an arbitrary frame?

This makes sense and may make it easier to find the right video faster
