Camera uploads
16 TopicsImpossible for the "Camera Upload" feature to also include Apple iOS "Live Photos?"
Hello! I recently discovered that none of my synced iOS (iPhone) photos include the LIVE PHOTO (the animation / little video associated with a photo). (I am using Dropbox as a way to transfer photos from iPhone --> Mac wirelessly.) This is really unfortunate, as I've lost about 6 months of live photos as a result. It appears that Dropbox Camera Upload specifically does *not* sync the live photo component of iOS photos, and silently drops / doesn't sync the live photo. I would love to be wrong about this, but as far as I can tell, the only way to sync live photos is to either connect your iPhone to your Mac with a USB cable, or to pay Apple for iCloud.724Views0likes3CommentsLocation info of photos and videos missing in Android 14
Google Photos shows the location (country and place) of photos and videos taken with my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. When backup to OneDrive I don't see this information in the OneDrive app but it's available on the OneDrive website when clicking on the '!' sign of the pictures. That's cumbersome, but the information is still there. However, in Dropbox this location info doesn't appear at all. Even the longitude and altitude data isn't included in the metadata. I would like to subscribe to Dropbox if the location data of the photos and videos taken with my phone is shown in Dropbox. That's why so far I have a subscription to Google Drive to use Google Photos for my photos and videos. There are a lot of apps available which can show the country and place based on the longitude and altitude data in the metadata. But does anybody know whether this simple feature is also available in Dropbox or is this just a crucial omission (and great mistake) from Dropbox? It's unnecessary complicated to use a separated app for information which should just be shown in Dropbox!1.3KViews0likes4CommentsRestarting Photo Upload - All old photos get re-uploaded
This has happened to me multiple times over the years. I have Photo Upload on. One day, I'll go to check on the photos being uploaded and find the Photo Upload turned off. This might be due to an app update or perhaps an iOS update. When I Turn On the Photo Upload feature, it finds all the photos on my phone, including those already uploaded, and tries to upload all of them. This creates duplicates on DB and takes up unnecessary space. I can select "Only New Photos" but that's only from today onward. So I need to search my DB Camera Uploads folder to determine when it turns off and then manually select and export to DB. Super annoying. What causes DB to stop the camera uploads? Is there a way to have DB sync and determine the appropriate date on which to begin the photo uploads? Is there a way to manually select a start date for the the Camera Uploads to start at? Hello. Recently every time I connect my mobile phone to the computer it downloads my pictures automatically to Dropbox. Dropbox then tells me that I have no more space left and that it might stop. How can I set the Dropbox that it will not automatically download all my pictures? It takes long time to delete them and then the next time I connect my phone to the computer it happens again. It never used to happen and I have never asked for it. Thank you764Views1like1CommentIPhone X Videos Shot in High Efficiency (HEIC) Format are Blank with Sound
There are other similar threads about this but I'm starting a new one because this issue is still not fixed and it should be becasue users rely on Dropbox to serve their most precious information - family photos and video 🙂 When backing up the iOS photo library to Camera Uploads any video shot using the High Efficiency (HEIC) format in iOS cannot be played on the web or any HTML5 player. There is sound but no video. If I was to copy the same video from my iPhone directly to my computer the video is able to be played so the issue is during the Camera Uploads process. I have built desktop applications that allow users to browse their entire Dropbox directory, play and share videos and now their libraries (including mine) are full of blank videos. Please resolve this issue.4.2KViews0likes5CommentsCamera Sync Very Slow
Latest version of Android on Galaxy S9+ w/Latest version of Dropbox on mobile (272.2.6). I've setup Camera Sync to the Camera Uploads dropbox folder and it has worked for years - yet - Camera sync to dropbox works 'sometimes'. Usually, it will not sync unless I load the camera app and actually view the camera gallery from the camera app. And even then, it takes a very long time (up to hours?) for the files to sync from the Camera DCIM folder to the Dropbox Camera Uploads folder. I've searched the web and forums, but can't find any solutions... Things I've done: 1. Dropbox App Settings (Settings>Apps>Dropbox) - Verified thatBackground Restrictions setting (set >Allow Background data usage set to on, allow app while data saver on, set to on). - Verified Allow Background Activity is set to on (on, but greyed out) 2. Permissions: Camera, Contacts & Storage 3. Storage set in Camera App to SD Card/DCIM/Camera Uploads Folder 4. Data Saver turned off 5. In Dropbox App - Mobile Data and Mobile Data only apps turned on for Dropbox and Dropbox Sync. - Use data for offline files turned on. - Dropbox app, camera uploads turned on - include videos (on), Use data when offline (on), Background restrictions (no, battery optimization for dropbox turned OFF). - Photo backup turned on - Backup ALL my photos What am I missing?Solved2.3KViews0likes3Comments- 7.8KViews4likes2Comments
I can't see the camera uploads folder on Windows
I have been using dropbox for near 10 years and always have uploaded all photos from my IOS device automatically. Always have been able to manage them from a desktop Mac. However, I now use a PC Win10 and I no longer see the camera upload folder. All files and folders appear EXCEPT "camera uploads". I have it set to download and sync all files localy on my mac, but not sure of the compatable setting on PC. I rarely use the browser to manage files as it seems to be much slower than direct manipulation. Am I missing something or is the Win10 version NOT capable of seeing the "camera upload" folder?Solved3.5KViews0likes3Comments
