5 TopicsI can't disable the backup of my Mac
Hello community, Please I need urgent help on this, I have mistakably done a backup of my Mac for Dropbox and I can't access my Desktop on my Mac anymore after doing this it says, "Desktop can't be opened because the original item can't be found" I tried to disable backup from the Adjust settings but I get an error saying "Coulnd't stop backup because My mac was renamed, deleted or moved" besides, I checked the available documents of my desktop in the online backup available in the dropbox website and many is missing!! basically because my storage is full, now how can restore my whole desktop without any missing files??Solved6KViews1like22CommentsDropbox backup question - how to make sure it is disabled?
Hello there, I got a question related to Dropbox Backup feature. Today I installed Dropbox on one of my PCs and while setting it all up I was asked if I want to backup my files, I picked 'not now' and thought all is good. But I wanted to double-check that Dropbox is indeed not backing up my files.Using my my desktop app, I went to 'preferences' -> 'backups' and then, to my surprise, I saw I have there the option 'manage backups' visible not 'setup' as Dropbox page suggests I should have then when my backup option is disabled. When I'm clicking 'manage backups' I got the same pop-up window again as I got at the beginning - the one with a folder list and two options 'configure' and 'not now'. When I'm checking 'backup' subpage on dropbox.com website, I don't see anything there - the list is empty and when clicking 'manage backups' -> 'open backups settings' from there it redirects me to Dropbox desktop app where I have the option to 'add backup' and my PC is listed as the option. So from my perspective, it looks as if I didn't enable backup indeed, but the fact I don't have 'set up', there - only 'manage backups' under 'Preferences' -> 'Backup' is very confusing for me. Is that normal to have 'manage backups' if I didn't decide to backup anything? Did Dropbox change the names on these buttons? I'm using my app in Polish btw., but I don't think that may be a translation thing. Is there any way I can be 100% sure Dropbox is not doing any backups of my files? Sorry for this anxious tone, but as you clearly see, I'm an overthinker. I would appreciate any insight you can give me. Have a great day!1.2KViews0likes7CommentsUnable to stop Mac Backup 'to manage these settings, sign in on the same computer'...
I have two Macs.... iMac and MacBook. I have dropbox set up on both, and a backup setup on both. I am able to manage the MacBook backup...on the MacBook. But the iMac backup I get the message 'To manage these settings, sign in on the same computer you used to start the backup'.... and I get that message on both Macs.... I have no way to disable this backup? My iMac backup seems to be constantly chugging away and affects my daily upload. I am fed up with it and just want to kill off the Dropbox Backup feature Any help much appreciated.904Views0likes5CommentsA connected external drive does not show up so that it can be selected for backup.
I'm running Windows 11 I have an external 4 terabyte external drive that is always connected. I would like to setup "backup" for this drive by it does not show up in the selection list under "Manage Backups" At one point a long time ago Dropbox asked me if I would like to setup backup for this drive and I said NO at that time. I have not found any way to reverse that decision. I suspect I might be able to relabel the drive but thats not really a solution I want to use,598Views0likes2Comments
