My business dropbox account was deleted after being removed from a team. Need to recover the account and all the files. Don't understand how the account was deleted after following the steps to be removed from a team? These are my ticket numbers if that helps: Ticket #24453059 Ticket #24453218Solved143Views0likes4CommentsUnable to delete my account - says user ID and password don't match
I've been trying to delete my account. I've never used this account since I first opened it a month or two ago. Today, I followed the instructions, entered my password (it doesn't provide a place to enter my ID) but a message says that my User ID & password do not match. So I go into my account and change my user id AND my password. I'm thinking it's gonna work now, finally! But I try it again and it still tells me my USER ID/Password doesn't match. Why does it tell me that when it doesn't even give me an option to enter a User ID? I was using the same password I used when it set it up only a few months ago. Since I'm already logged in, I go into my account and change BOTH my User ID and my Password. That should fix it, right? NOPE. It still tells me the User ID and Password do not match. I've been trying to get this account deleted for days. When I communicated with Dropbox by email to ask them to delete it, they told me I have to delete it myself. WTH?? I've tried everything now. Why can't I get this stupid account off of my Desktop PC?747Views0likes10CommentsFree team account will be deleted - how can I make sure I don't lose files?
Dropbox help request! Who would like to take a look with me on a Dropbox issue? An old free team account will be canceled after tomorrow and all files will be deleted. Okay, no problem, the account is empty. But now Dropbox sometimes has folders linked together and I want to make sure I don't lose anything. I have a paid Dropbox account and my old free team account will therefore be canceled. Then I think it should go well. Right? Who wants or can take a quick look? Then I can let it go. Thanks in advance!348Views0likes6CommentsIs there an ultimate recourse for 2FA deactivation ? (entirely locked out of my account)
Hi there, The situation is simple: I used to have dropbox and stopped using it years ago. Now i'd like to come back. I have lost access to my account and have no recovery option available at all. - I don't own any device that is still connected to the account through the app - I don't own any device that still has the 2FA token installed on an authentication app - I don't have the 2FA recovery codes anymore - I have changed phone number since then So this is a case where I have no solution at all to regain access, which is ok. It's my fault, and there is no data loss involved at all. That being said, now that I'd like to come back, I'd ideally like to use my main email address / historic account. My question therefore is: Is there a team inside the Dropbox company that can, on a case-by-case basis, turn off 2FA for a lost account ? I understand that this would only be on very select case-by-case basis because otherwise it opens up potential attack vectors. I also understand that this is my fault and no one else's so I'm not here to assign blame or to complain. I'm just wondering if there is a team inside the Dropbox company that does that. I can provide a ton of proof of my identity, my ownership of the email address (and of the domain name that email address is on), my being the original user (with IP addresses used at the time and other information), etc. Also, I have access to the email address of the account in question (it's my main address) and I have the valid password for it. So, are there any documented cases of such a thing being possible ? Microsoft once saved my ass during a similar situation after a catastrophic business IT event, although that was with a paid account. In the case of this issue here, I'm not a paying customer anymore, alhough I was and would like to be again... If no solution exists, I'll simply use another email address and create a new account, although I'd prefer to find a solution and regain access to the account based on my main email. Thank you everyone for your time, cheers ! PS: I have already contacted the support team (in my country, not the english-speaking support) and they keep answering with boilerplate "use your recovery codes / your phone number" eventhough I've explained what I just laid out here, so I'm simply here in the hopes that I can get an unambiguous "yes" or "no" answer to the question of whether or not an ultimate, case-by-case recourse procedure exists.Solved2KViews2likes6CommentsHow can I invite back a team member I deleted?
Hi Community, I am the admin and I accidentally deleted a staff members account, as an example, lets say I deleted "steven@company.com". We have a company dropbox. I would like to add Steven back with his company email: "steven@company.com". If this account was deleted does that mean I can never invite a team member this this email again and that I longer have access to that email? It does not appear to be letting me re-add "steven@compay.com". Please advise!!178Views0likes1Comment
