If I delete a Dropbox file synced on my computer, will it delete it from my Dropbox account?
I have been trying to copy all of my files on my computer to drop box. I am on to pictures and have a ton - now I'm running out of space on my hard drive. I do not use Dropbox for backup storage; I use a different service for that. But friends and fellow students sometimes want to share files in Dropbox, so I set up a free account. Somehow, I don't know how, Dropbox uploaded some of my photos to the cloud and filled up my basic Dropbox space. I would like to take my photos out of Dropbox WITHOUT DELETING THEM FROM MY COMPUTER or other devices. This would give me the Dropbox space that I need for sharing. After I delete a folder(not an empty folder). It will appear again after few minutes and all the files in the folder are gone, like an empty folder. deleted folder re appeared after a couple of years
Something very weird just happened with my dropbox account. Out of nowhere, a folder which was deletec about 2 years agore appeared on my dropbox. It has the files as they were, which makes me wonder why the hell dropbox is still keeping these files after a few years that they have been deleted? First I thought it was a hack, but then I checked all my devices and what was accessing my account and indeed, everything was as it was before. It makes me think this is a serious bug and on another note, why the hell is dropbox keeping data that was deleted 2 years ago? I'll surprised, scared and angry at the same time. I'm not even sure where to begin! Deleted folders keep reappearing
I'm hoping someone can help with this problem. I have been using Dropbox for a few years across a number of devices (2 desktop Macs, a laptop, an iPhone and an iPad). This last week, when I try to delete a folder it reappears a moment later. If I move it into another folder, the same thing happens. Is it safe to delete dropbox cache old files?
$ dropbox version Dropbox daemon version: 99.4.501 Dropbox command-line interface version: 2019.02.14 I'm running Fedora 32 on my main workstation with a 'normal' Dropbox installation, but a fairly small SSD drive. My disk hit 100% today when someone in our team dumped many Gb of data into a shared folder. I used the CLI to `dropbox exclude path/to/huge/files` and they did get removed from my drive (great!) but my disk still appeared full. Investigating, I found 297 files occupying 15Gb in ~/Dropbox/.dropbox.cache/old_files. I don't know if they are related to this problem, their modification times are from 5 days ago. They all have machine-readable names like 16ca69b67850264f29600d17d921b732 but I can tell they're the original files that were in the shared folder. I’m using the latest iOS 12 release, and the latest version of the Dropbox iOS app, on my iPhone X. I have over 7,000 photos on my iPhone; they are also synced to my iCloud. (The volume consists of pretty much every photo I’ve ever had on an iPhone, beginning with an iPhone 4S.) Having this number of photos on my iPhone has been making my iPhone quite sluggish. I tried using the Dropbox iOS app’s built-in feature to copy or move the photos to one of my Dropbox folders; but, on each attempt, the Dropbox iOS app hangs, after moving anywhere from few hundred to a couple of thousand photos. I then opened the iCloud app in Windows 10, intending to copy the photos en masse to Dropbox, then, once the move was confirmed, erase the photos from my iCloud. (I also tried this through accessing my iCloud via Google Chrome.) I can’t seem to select more than 1 photo at a time, in my iCloud photos area.
