136 TopicsAn Official Client for Synology NAS Devices
Hi all, Iuse Dropbox daily and I love it.As a part of my current setup, I sync the entirety of my Dropbox folder to my Synology NAS device, in order to have all of my data available to me locally, through LAN (my laptop doesn't have enough disk space to allow for that), and to be able to copythe Dropbox data elsewhere to serve as a backup. Right now, I'm using Synology's official application - Cloud Sync - to retrievethe Dropbox data. I believe it works quite well (it has some drawbacks), but it would NEVERbe as reliable as an official app. Since the OS that powers Synology units - DSM - isLinux-based, I hope thissuggestions is not too much, as there's already an official Dropbox Linux client. Thanks!37KViews130likes31CommentsDropbox Finder integration breaks Quick Look and thumbnails - Mac OS Mojave 10.14
For the past few months I've been having issues with image previews not loading on my Mac in Quick Look, Finder previews or icon thumbnails. I have experienced the problem on both Mac OS High Sierra and Mojave. My colleagues also seem to be experiencing the same issue. I finally took the time this week to figure out what is causing the issue. As far as I can tell the problem is caused by Dropbox Finder integration. As soon as I turned off Dropbox finder integration (and restart the machine) file previews and Quick Look work perfectly. For now I'm keeping Dropbox Finder integration turned off - I'm a designer and image previews are incredibly useful. I'd prefer to be able to enable Dropbox Finder integration as the sync status icons are useful. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?Solved28KViews13likes48Comments"Open in Finder" and "Open in Word" not showing in Safari OSX for Mac
Hey folks, When viewing dropbox files from the Safari browser (Safari v 13.0) I can no longer see the "Show in Finder" or 'Open in Word" / "Open in Adobe Acrobat" options for files. I also have Chrome installed on my Mac (v77.0.3865.90) and I can confirm that these DO work on Chrome. See pics below. These items used to show in Safari, however it seems that after updating to Safari v13.0 this has stopped working. Any ideas for resolution would be gratefully received as Safari is my default browser. Cheers, Scott17KViews7likes109CommentsMAC: Why does Dropbox appear in iCloud Drive settings?
In my Mac's System Preferences for iCloud, iCloud Drive has an Options button next to it. Clicking that shows a list of apps below a statement "Apps which can store documents and data in iCloud will appear here." Most are Apple apps like Mail, Calendar, and other Apple apps. And I understand why I would want to turn them on or off. There are also 2 or 3 third party apps as well, like my Calendar replacement, a PDF editing app, and a graphics app that can share files between my Macs so I can edit images anywhere. But Dropbox is listed here too. Can anyone tell me WHY it is here and WHAT it reads/writes to iCloud? There is nothing in the iCloud Drive that is obviously Dropbox related, and no items that are duplicated in the Dropbox folder. The iCloud Drive folder (as well as looking at them in a browser logged into iCloud) only shows folders Documents, Desktop, Downloads, Shortcuts, and those 3rd party apps. Dropbox is not one of them. Apps which appear here have to have iCloud functionality built in to them...not all installed apps appear here. So I'm trying to understand why Dropbox has this ability built in, and what it's for. And can I turn it off, or is it syncing some Dropbox settings between my Dropbox equipped computers on the same account? Does it have something to do with syncing photos (I do not use Dropbox's feature to backup my iPhone photos)? Below is a screenshot of Dropbox appearing in the iCloud Drive pane:8.7KViews4likes8CommentsInDesign will freeze if we try to open files that are online-only
Please note that we have a Dropbox shared among multiple employees. Since yesterday, we've encountered the following issue: Whenever we try to open any files, such as InDesign or Photoshop files, through Dropbox that have a cloud status, the application freezes. To work around this, we need to right-click on the file in Dropbox, select "Save Offline," and then open it in InDesign through Dropbox. This problem did not occur before. If we don't save the file offline first in Dropbox, InDesign will freeze until we quit Dropbox, reopen it, save the file offline, and then open it again through Dropbox to work on it. For example, if we click on one of these items that has a transparent X to open files from Dropbox in InDesign, InDesign will freeze first like in img1: img1 second dropbox freeze also, for example if you right click on any dropbox file , no option to save the file offline or online .... like img2 : img2 the only solution is first to quit the dropbox then open it again when dropbox became like img3 : img3 thenmake the file you want to open through InDesign, Photoshop, or any other app available offline first. Then, you should be able to open it without any problems. Another problem we're encountering is with opening files from Dropbox in InDesign. The first time we open a file, it displays correctly with icons like in img3. However, the second time we open a file, it appears like img1, with the dark green icon missing and the cloud icon becoming a transparent X. To restore the correct display (like img3), we have to quit Dropbox and reopen it. Please address this issue as it affects multiple desktops and laptops used by six different users from various companies. Some of these users are on Windows 10, while others are on Windows 11. The problem started appearing yesterday.Solved6.9KViews3likes34CommentsAfter updating Dropbox won't show up in Bridge

Hi, i'm trying to install dropbox in a raspberry pi 4 with raspbian lite (no X installed). The architecture (armhf) seems to not be supported (only debian, fedora, ubuntu with x86 32/64), I would like to use dropbox daemon to automatically sync my files using typical .dropbox-dist, as i do in other machines (ubuntu mainly). Is this possible on a raspberry pi ? I don't know if python projects could launch background jobs to sync files or if those tools are intended to be used on demand (download this, upload another thing, etc.). I tried pip3 install dropbox, as well as, apt-get install python3-dropbox. Not sure if they are same thing, and how to use. I have seen some projects like "github.com/andreafabrizi/Dropbox-Uploader.git" or "ExaGear Desktop", but this seems to miss that "dropbox daemon flavor" and i don't want X server (i prefer raspbian lite). Which would be the best approach ?Solved9.2KViews3likes4Comments"Enable Finder Integration"
I hope I'm asking in the right place. Did Dropbox do away with the "Enable Finder Integration" option? When it's *disabled* the image dimensions are displayed in the Finder with my pictures rather than "up to date"... That's what I want, to disable it. I don't want the big green check mark. I can't find the "Enable Finder Integration" option in preferences anymore.Solved14KViews3likes14CommentsLogic Pro files disappearing
I got a new macbook (M2) and migrated from my old macbook (2019 intel). Initially I set all of my dropbox folders to online only so I could then manually select what I wanted to keep local. I have always kept my logic projects in dropbox so I never have to worry about backing up. For some reason some logic projects are disappearing from their folders. And when I sync locally they do not appear. Only the audio files, bounces, samples etc. folders remain. If I go to dropbox.com the logic project file is there. But when I download it and try any open it, it says it cant be opened! (See screenshots) I have a bunch of important work that I cannot access. What is happening here?9.8KViews2likes50Comments
