For the past couple of days, Dropbox has been consistently using around 30% of my CPU, when not syncing or indexing anything (i.e., the menu bar drop down says `Up to date`). I am a paying customer and very frustrated with Dropbox. I am ready to drop DropBox and look for other alternatives. Since Friday of last week it has been trying to sync 100Gb in files and it is taking an eternity. Now is stuck in "Starting." I have rebooted the Mac (10.6.8). I am using Dropbox 3.0.3. I have tried going to Preferences, holding the option key and "Fixing Permission." I also read in the Internet about deleting the hidden cache folder but I have not done it yet since I don't know what to expect. I have dropbox installed on multiple devices and they all work fine, except it has suddenly stopped uploading on my windows laptop. I moved a load of photos off my phone onto dropbox on my laptop last week and only a handful have uploaded. The icon in my tray says it issyncing 405 files and has 36 minutes left. It's definitely not a problem with my bandwidth and I have checked the settings to makesure that dropbox isn't set to a low upload speed. I have tried pausing sync and restarting, I have tried closing dropbox and re-opening. I have also tried restarting my laptop and it uploaded 5 files then stopped again. How can I completely, 100%, disable Smart Sync so that Dropbox will always download all of my files? The settings I have found all apply to NEW files and seem to have no impact on old files.
